On the afternoon of May 18, a representative of Dien Bien Provincial Police said that the agency had just successfully broken up a major drug case, arresting two suspects and seizing 16 heroin cakes.
Previously, at around 5:35 p.m. on May 15, a working group of the Muong Cha District Police (Dien Bien) coordinated with related units to catch Giang A Lenh (37 years old, residing in Na Bung 1 village, Na Bung commune, Nam Po district, Dien Bien) and his wife Mua Thi Dinh (35 years old) in the act of illegally buying and selling drugs.

Muong Cha District Police and coordinated forces seized 16 heroin cakes and many related documents.
Notably, during the arrest, Giang A Lenh used the knife he was carrying to fiercely fight back in an attempt to escape, but was still arrested.
Lenh was taken to Muong Cha District Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Knowing that he could not escape, Lenh used a knife to cut his own throat and stab himself in the stomach in an attempt to commit suicide. However, the task force took the knife, restrained Lenh, and took him to Muong Cha District Medical Center for emergency treatment. According to a representative of Dien Bien Provincial Police, during the process of arresting the two suspects, the forces ensured safety.
In response to this outstanding achievement, on May 17, Colonel Pham Truong Giang, Deputy Director of Dien Bien Provincial Police congratulated, commended and rewarded Muong Cha District Police and members of the investigation team.
