The museum currently owns over 6,000 original artifacts, including many different types, the age of the artifacts spans from the Stone Age to the present day, including: stone artifacts (primitive period on Hoa Binh land), bronze artifacts (Dong Son bronze to modern bronze), cultural artifacts (artifacts describing the material life of the Muong people from ancient times to the present), unique cultural and spiritual artifacts such as Muong calendars, shaman objects, ritual artifacts...
Looking at the artifacts at the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum, visitors can see a general picture of the Muong culture spanning over 20,000 years ago: People from the prehistoric times ate fur, lived in caves, and used stone tools, from the primitive stone of the "Son Vi Culture", through the "Hoa Binh Culture" to the "Bac Son Culture"..., the bronze culture period with tools from primitive to sophisticated, spanning from the Dong Son Culture to modern times; daily life items of the Muong people from the nobility to the common people and from the "ho" era to the present day.
For many years, the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum has welcomed many delegations of domestic and foreign visitors and researchers, mostly students of all levels in and outside the province, to visit and experience.
What is special is that few private museums can do like the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum, which is to display Muong cultural artifacts on the move to spread Muong culture further, to all regions of the country. From the thought of "how to make Muong culture known to more people", Meritorious Artist Bui Thanh Binh, Director of the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum, always wishes to have the opportunity to introduce and promote Muong culture outside the land where it was born, so that more people can understand the beauty and quintessence of Muong culture.
Meritorious Artist Bui Thanh Binh has sought every means to do this. Initially, he coordinated with the Provincial Museum to display at several museums such as the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures in Thai Nguyen and the Hung Yen Provincial Museum. Later, many places from the central to local levels knew about the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum and proactively sought him out to cooperate.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2014, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology coordinated with the Muong Museum of Cultural Heritage to display Muong culture and Muong cuisine on the museum grounds. That first time, the Muong Museum of Cultural Heritage had a bumper crop. With a small display area and a simple, unique culinary area, during the Tet holiday, the Muong Museum of Cultural Heritage welcomed tens of thousands of people to visit and enjoy Muong cuisine. From this success, from 2014 to now, almost every Tet holiday, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has invited the Muong Museum of Cultural Heritage to celebrate "Muong Tet".
In 2019, the Congress of Ethnic Minorities (EM) took place in the districts of Hanoi, especially the districts where EMs live. In March 2019, the Congress of EMs in Thach That district took place; in June, the Congress continued in Ba Vi district; in October, the Congress of EMs in Hanoi took place. In all three congresses, the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum was honored to be invited by the districts and Hanoi city to support the display of Muong culture and other EMs in the area. The museum's display area is a highlight contributing to the success of the congresses.
Successfully displaying Muong culture in districts and Hanoi city in the 2019 - 2024 term, in the 2024 - 2029 term, districts and Hanoi city continue to invite the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum to participate in the exhibition.
Not only displayed in Hanoi, many localities inside and outside the province also know and seek out the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum for professional support, displayed in the memorial areas of the relics (the relic site of the Southern Ethnic Cadre School in Chi Ne town, Lac Thuy district), resorts in Hoa Binh province (Hoa Binh Xanh Resort, Luong Son district; Serena Resort, restaurants, Muong Dong bamboo rice motels, Kim Boi district...) all have the mark of the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum.
Lunar New Year 2024 is probably a very memorable Tet for the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum. On the second day of Tet, when every family was filled with joy and happiness, the entire family and staff of the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum temporarily put Tet aside and loaded two trucks full of artifacts to display at the historical site of Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City. Most recently, it was displayed at the Bai Dinh spiritual tourism area, Ninh Binh province.
Every mobile exhibition of the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum receives compliments and encouragement from leaders at all levels and people, especially those who have never been to Hoa Binh. They are surprised and unfamiliar, and when explained, they clearly express their admiration for a culture they have heard about on the mass media. Muong people who have lived away from home for many years seem to reconnect with their memories, return to their "home", to the life of their ancestors. Those images are always a source of encouragement, further motivating the determination to bring Muong culture further for Meritorious Artist Bui Thanh Binh and his colleagues.
The ultimate goal of the museum is to preserve and educate, especially traditional education. The Muong Cultural Heritage Museum has done a good job of spreading the Muong culture which is rich in identity, humanity, and rich in history.
