
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; comrades of the Party Central Committee, representatives of many central and local departments, ministries, branches; authors and groups of authors who won the 19th National Press Award - 2024.

This year, the National Press Awards attracted the participation of many associations at all levels, with 17/21 Inter-Associations, 29 affiliated Associations and 59/63 Provincial and Municipal Journalists Associations nationwide submitting entries. A total of 1,962 entries were submitted – a record high number ever. Of these, 156 entries were by authors who were not members of the Vietnam Journalists Association . After the preliminary round, 1,905 entries were eligible to participate in the preliminary judging round.

This year's award has a strong innovation, implemented for the first time according to the National Press Award Charter (amended and supplemented) in 2024, with the addition of 2 new award groups, bringing the total to 13 award groups in all types of press. Specifically: Print newspapers have 3 award groups; radio and television each have 2-3 award groups; electronic newspapers have 2 award groups; multimedia press has 1 award group with 102 works in new genres such as infographics, video clips, podcasts, livestreams, etc.

At this year's award ceremony, Bac Kan Newspaper won the Encouragement Prize with the work "Need more glue in connecting tourism in the Viet Bac War Zone" by the group of authors Le Thu Trang (Trang Le), Nong Thi Vui (Moc Lan), Nguyen Xuan Nghiep (Xuan Nghiep).



According to the Judging Council, this year's award-winning works all adhered to political tasks, clearly demonstrating the social responsibility and civic duty of journalists. Many journalistic works discovered, encouraged, and promoted advanced models, good people, good deeds; provided sharp criticism, contributing to the building and improvement of mechanisms and policies; courageously fought against corruption and negativity; protected the Party's ideological foundation, foreign information, and the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland's borders and islands.
The highlight of this year’s season is the serious and professional investment of press agencies and authors. Not only reflecting the breath of life in a timely manner, many works also effectively apply digital technology and creative forms of expression, contributing to widely spreading positive messages to the public.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, highly appreciated and sincerely thanked the great contributions of press agencies and journalists to the revolutionary cause of the nation, contributing to the great and historic achievements of the Party, State and People.

According to the Prime Minister, generations of journalists have not been afraid of hardships and dangers, being present on every front line to record footage, write moving articles, touch people's hearts, contributing to creating unparalleled strength for the country to firmly overcome difficulties, making historic victories, and timeless miracles.
"The press has widely spread humanistic values, compassion, ideals, ambitions and dreams. Many typical and progressive examples have contributed to raising people's knowledge, forming correct viewpoints, cultural values, good standards, and deeply portraying the image of the country and people of Vietnam," said the Prime Minister.
Through 18 seasons, the National Press Awards are not only a prestigious professional playground but also an opportunity to honor the contributions of journalists. The 2024 Awards, the 19th season, continues to affirm the important role of the press in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland./.
