Three Hanoi bus stations welcome a surge in passengers during Lunar New Year

Statistics on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, three bus stations: Giap Bat, My Dinh, Gia Lam welcomed a 300 - 400% increase in passengers compared to normal days.


The Hanoi Department of Transport has just reported to the City People's Committee on the situation of ensuring traffic order and safety, passenger and cargo transportation to serve the travel needs of people in the city during the 2025 Lunar New Year.

On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, major bus stations in the capital welcomed a number of passengers many times higher than normal days.

Notably, from January 19 to 27, each day, the three bus stations Giap Bat, My Dinh, and Gia Lam operated more than 17,000 trips, equivalent to the same period in 2024.

The number of passengers passing through the station reached more than 187 thousand passengers, an increase of 300 - 400% compared to normal days. The total number of additional vehicles was 889 vehicles.

In particular, at Giap Bat bus station, the highest number of passengers reached more than 16,500/day with more than 850 buses/day. Passengers mainly focus on the routes: Nam Dinh, Thai Binh , Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa.

At My Dinh bus station, the highest number of passengers reached more than 16,500/day with a total of 886 buses/day, mainly focusing on the routes: Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai , Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang.

At Gia Lam bus station, the highest number of passengers reached 3,600/day with a total of 426 buses/day, mainly on routes to Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and Bac Giang.

For public passenger transport by bus, from January 25 to February 2, 2025, the output is estimated to reach more than 6.5 million passengers with nearly 118,000 trips made.

On the urban railway, the total transport volume reached more than 229,000 passengers. The total number of trains running reached nearly 3,800.

Regarding the work of ensuring traffic order and safety, according to the Hanoi Department of Transport, during the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday, the Department directed relevant units to promptly handle 78 road incidents in the city, mainly traffic collisions, misaligned arrow pillars, potholes... on axes and routes such as: Xa Dan, Truong Dinh, Hoang Tang Bi, Me Linh, National Highway 6, Thanh Tri Bridge; National Highway 5; Ho Chi Minh Road...

Traffic safety patrols at 17 railway crossings in the city operate normally during holidays.

The Hanoi Department of Transport Inspectorate has also deployed forces at 144 locations on routes and bus station areas; coordinated traffic organization, traffic flow, and guided vehicles to move safely and smoothly; and taken timely remedial measures when incidents and accidents occurred, especially on key traffic routes and gateway routes into and out of the capital, to prevent prolonged traffic congestion.
