On the morning of September 3, Alcaraz had a 3-0 victory (6-4, 6-2, 6-4) over 20th seed Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals of the 2025 US Open. This victory not only helped him reach the semi-finals but also created an impressive achievement.
With this victory, Alcaraz (22 years and 4 months) has become the youngest player since 1978 to have reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam in two different seasons on all three surfaces (clay, grass and hard), according to Opta Ace .
He achieved the same feat in 2023, when he won Wimbledon and reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros as well as the US Open.
The record is currently held by Swedish legend Björn Borg in 1978. He was only 22 years and 3 months old at the time. It took 47 years for a player to repeat this achievement.
This year, Alcaraz successfully defended his Roland Garros title, reached the Wimbledon final (losing to Jannik Sinner). And now, he is looking for his second US Open title after winning his first in 2022 at the age of 19.
What's even more remarkable is that Alcaraz has gone through five matches at this year's tournament without losing a set.
This achievement makes him the youngest player to do this at a Grand Slam tournament since Rafael Nadal in 2008.
