The tournament was jointly organized by the Department of Physical Training and Sports , the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai to respond to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
According to the Organizing Committee, the tournament will take place from August 22 to 31. This year, the tournament attracted nearly 700 team leaders, coaches, and athletes from 39 teams of 29 provincial, municipal, and industry units nationwide to compete in the Lowkick event.
Accordingly, athletes compete in 60 sets of medals in 3 age groups: 13-14; 15-16 and 17-18 (32 male weight categories and 28 female weight categories). Athletes compete in individual knockout matches according to the current competition rules of the WAKO Asian Kickboxing Federation, including 3 rounds (each round lasts 2 minutes and there is a 1-minute break between each round).
Gia Lai Province Kickboxing Team (Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts Center and Pleiku Sports Training and Competition Center) participated with a force of 5 coaches and 60 athletes, including 8 amateur martial artists, striving to achieve high results in the tournament.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai Bui Trung Hieu said that, besides the purpose of continuing to promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", the tournament is also a form of propaganda and the strongest introduction to promote the Kickboxing training movement in localities.
Through the tournament, units can evaluate their training process and high-performance athletes and help young athletes to strive for professional success.
At the same time, it contributes to promoting the image, introducing the tourism potential and attractive destinations of Gia Lai to domestic and foreign tourists.
Deputy Director Bui Trung Hieu also emphasized that the tournament is also an opportunity for the National Team Coaching Board to discover and select young talents, add them to the national team, and build a successor force to prepare for international tournaments in the coming time.
