In just a few days, the 2025 high school graduation exam will take place. This is the first year that students will take the exam according to the new 2018 generaleducation program, with many innovations in organization, exam structure, subjects and assessment methods. Below are 3 important milestones that candidates should note:
High School Graduation Exam Schedule 2025
This year, the Ministry of Education and Training has released two exam schedules, for candidates taking the exam according to the new 2018 general education program and the 2006 general education program.
The reason there are two exam schedules is because, besides the first candidates graduating from high school under the new program, there are still candidates studying under the old program who need to take the graduation exam to be considered for recognition of high school graduation or to get scores for university admission.

Exam score announcement schedule
No later than 11:30 a.m. on June 28, the examination councils will update the summary report of data and the examination situation at the examination councils into the examination management system.
No later than 5:00 p.m. on July 13, provincial steering committees and examination councils will organize the marking of exams, summarize the marking work, send exam result data to the Ministry of Education and Training, and compare exam results.
The Ministry of Education and Training set the time to announce exam results at 8:00 a.m. on July 16.
High School Graduation Recognition Schedule
No later than July 18, the Departments of Education and Training will consider recognizing high school graduation.
No later than July 22, complete the issuance of temporary graduation certificates, exam result certificates, return of transcripts and related certificates to candidates.
From July 16 to July 25, the units registering for the exam will receive appeal applications and create an appeal list.
No later than August 3, the examination councils will organize a review of the exam (if any).
No later than August 8, the Department of Education and Training of localities will consider recognizing high school graduation after review.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam in 2025 is 1,165,289; an increase of 93,894 registrations compared to last year (in 2024, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam is 1,071,395).
Of which, 1,122,507 grade 12 candidates took the exam according to the 2018 general education program (accounting for 96.33%), 42,782 independent candidates (accounting for 3.67%).
