With the theme “Leaders in Action: Promoting Safer and More Efficient Operations”, the event attracted 800 guests representing leaders of airlines and international organizations.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang highly appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Transport , the International Air Transport Association, and Vietnam Airlines in coordinating to organize the first global aviation safety conference in Hanoi.

“The participation of many leaders and aviation safety experts demonstrates the common responsibility and strong commitment of the international community to global aviation safety and exploitation,” said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Vietnamese Government always pays special attention to the aviation industry, considering the aviation industry one of the driving forces of the economy, promoting investment, trade, and tourism development.

The Government also attaches importance to building the image of Vietnamese airlines as safe, friendly and ambassadors of the brand, culture, people and country of Vietnam in the international arena.

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang assessed that in recent years, the world aviation industry has used many information technology solutions to help improve management capacity, increase automation, and significantly support forecasting and risk prevention.

In particular, increased cooperation, information and technology sharing among global aviation organizations helps improve operational efficiency and aviation safety indicators.

With the above solutions, according to IATA, the aviation accident rate in 2022 will be only 1.21 incidents per 1 million flights, down 48% compared to 10 years ago in 2013.

IATA member airlines performed even better, averaging 0.76 incidents over the five years from 2018 to 2022.

“In Vietnam, the aviation industry has also achieved positive results in the field of safety and operations, notably 25 consecutive years without a commercial aviation accident in the context of the aviation industry continuously growing by double digits for many years; achieving certification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and achieving FAA CAT 1 aviation safety supervision capacity certification.

All Vietnamese airlines have been assessed and granted Operational Safety Certificates by the International Air Transport Association,” said Minister Nguyen Van Thang.

However, the Minister emphasized that the aviation industry is facing four biggest pressures: infrastructure, human resources, environment and risk management.

“These are the challenges we must overcome to develop sustainable aviation, bring people the safest and most convenient services, and realize the goal of Vietnam becoming a regional and international aviation transit point,” Minister Thang said.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, said that the airline always strives to ensure absolutely safe flights. Accordingly, the airline has a high level of control and safety implementation in IATA when it has continuously maintained the 10th IOSA operational safety certification over the course of nearly two decades.
