On the morning of August 30, one day after the Vietnam national team's scheduled gathering, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Hai Long, two names on the initial list, were absent due to injury.
The exact extent of Quang Hai and Hai Long's injuries is unknown. Both will be monitored, examined and given a rest by their clubs during the upcoming holiday.
Quang Hai is the captain of the Hanoi Police Club, and has competed in three consecutive tournaments since the beginning of the season, including the National Super Cup, ASEAN Club Championship and V-League, so he is likely overloaded.
Hai Long is the attacking star of Hanoi FC. Currently, his form is not good, so he often does not play the full 90 minutes, mainly coming on from the bench after the first 3 matches of the season.
During the September training session, the Vietnamese team did not have any official matches, so this was an opportunity for the coaching staff to test new players. Therefore, the absence of Quang Hai and Hai Long was not a big problem.
There are 4 new recruits in this training session including defenders Dinh Quang Kiet, Tran Hoang Phuc, Phan Du Hoc and striker Pham Gia Hung.
In addition, the team also has the presence of some players who have never worked with coach Kim Sang Sik such as Quan Van Chuan, Phan Tuan Tai, Trieu Viet Hung or Ly Cong Hoang Anh.
The Vietnamese team began training today (August 30) in Hanoi and will play two friendly matches against Hanoi Police Club (September 4) and Nam Dinh (September 7).
Since coach Kim Sang Sik is leading U23 Vietnam in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers, the Vietnam team will be temporarily assigned to acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh to directly manage.
