Implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, each newly built house will receive financial support of 60 million VND, and each house that needs to be repaired will receive 30 million VND. Each completed house brings joy, motivation, and optimism to poor households with housing difficulties to strive and make efforts to escape poverty sustainably, contributing to the effective implementation of social security policies in the province.

In My Tu district, in the period of 2024 - 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Tu district closely coordinated with local departments and organizations to build and hand over 536 houses with a total cost of more than 28 billion VND. Of which, there are 17 solidarity houses, each worth 50 million VND and 519 houses under the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, including 389 newly built houses and 130 repaired houses. Sharing about the achieved results, comrade Tran Thi Nuong - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Tu district said: "We identify this as a key task, requiring drastic participation from the local authorities and consensus of the people. The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Soc Trang province has had a wide impact. Since its launch, thousands of houses have been rebuilt or repaired with the "3 hard" criteria: hard foundation, hard walls and hard roofs. Ms. Lam Thi Lien in Cau Don hamlet, Huynh Huu Nghia town, My Tu district said that for many years, she had to live in an old, seriously degraded house. Every time it rained or was windy, it leaked, and the wind blew from all directions, making her always in a state of insecurity. Now that the State and organizations have supported her to build a new, spacious house, she feels very happy, excited and more secure in her life. Ms. Lien emotionally shared: "Before, during the rainy season, I was very worried, water splashed from all directions. Now that I have a new house with solid walls and a tight roof, I feel secure. I am very grateful to the Fatherland Front at all levels for helping my life turn a new page."

Not only My Tu, the program is being implemented synchronously throughout the province. Through review, the whole Soc Trang province plans to support the construction and repair of a total of 8,917 houses for poor households, near-poor households, policy families and households with housing difficulties under the national target program. The total estimated implementation cost is more than 463 billion VND. It is expected that by June 30, 2025, districts, towns and cities will complete the construction, repair and put into use 8,917/8,917 houses for policy families, poor households, near-poor households, households under the national target program in the province with housing difficulties.

It is worth noting that, in addition to the financial support of organizations and individuals and the daily salary contributions of cadres, civil servants, public employees and soldiers of the armed forces, there was also the active participation of mass organizations. In particular, the volunteer team of union members and youth supported more than 200 households with practical work such as: dismantling old houses, transporting materials, filling the foundations... with a total estimated daily contribution value of over 920 million VND. Together with union members and youth, the provincial armed forces also promoted their role in social security activities. The Provincial Military Command and its affiliated units mobilized more than 2,000 cadres and militiamen to participate in building and repairing more than 2,000 houses for the people.

Not only contributing labor, many organizations also actively mobilized funds and materials to support households. The Provincial Veterans Association took advantage of support from the Central Government to build a house worth 100 million VND and mobilized members to support the construction of 35 more houses. The Provincial Women's Union coordinated with related units to carry out many practical support activities such as: dismantling old houses, transporting materials, cooking for workers, supporting rice, drinking water, fans, food, etc. As of May 2025, 537 cadres and members participated, contributing 1,468 working days, giving 755 kg of rice, 24 fans and necessities to people.

Not only stopping at impressive statistics, what is more valuable is the spread of faith and hope among the people. Each completed house not only helps people settle down, but also opens up opportunities to change their lives. Bright smiles and eyes full of hope are proof of the practical effectiveness of the program. People have a stable place to live, feel secure in doing business, taking care of their children's education, thereby gradually rising up to escape poverty sustainably.
