Consider transferring Dong Go Coconut Center to Tra Vinh University for management

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Quynh Thien noted some issues regarding the transfer process.

Dong Go Coconut Center is a unit of the Institute of Oil and Oil Plants Research. To serve the people and education as required by Ben Tre province (before the merger) in Decision No. 2878/QD-UB dated October 16, 2003, the Ministry of Industry and Trade transferred 37.6531 hectares to Ben Tre province (old). Currently, the Institute is managing and using 57.1 hectares of land in Luong Hoa commune.

In July 2025, Tra Vinh University proposed to receive Dong Go Coconut Center for management and development. After organizing a meeting to collect opinions from relevant departments and branches, the Department of Industry and Trade presided over and coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology to propose to the People's Committee of Vinh Long province to consider the transfer plan.

At the meeting, delegates agreed to transfer Dong Go Coconut Center to Tra Vinh University for management.

Tra Vinh University leaders said they agreed to receive and effectively manage Dong Go Coconut Center.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Quynh Thien requested the Department of Industry and Trade to synthesize the opinions of departments, branches, and Luong Hoa commune on the agreement to hand over Dong Go Coconut Center to Tra Vinh University to receive.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also proposed a method for implementing the transfer request process. In the immediate future, we will continue to develop a project to develop the center in the direction of multi-function, tasks and financial autonomy mechanism... capable of managing and operating on a national and international scale, and submit it to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for consideration.
