On April 7, after the authorities of the province and Ha Long City intervened, a tourist boat of Hai Phong City had to refund money to tourists because it did not provide services as promised.
Specifically, at around 10:00 p.m. on April 6, 2024, the hotline of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism received information from a group of about 14 tourists regarding the service quality of the TALIYA CRUISE ship, license plate HP 6289. Accordingly, the group of tourists booked dinner service on the TALIYA CRUISE ship in the area of Au 2, Tuan Chau Port (Tuan Chau ward) with a buffet style.
This group of tourists purchased the service through a travel agency and transferred the service fee of 13.5 million VND. However, after boarding the ship, the group realized that they did not receive the services as promised, the quality was not commensurate with the price, there was not enough food, and the dishes were served slowly. Therefore, the group of tourists were very upset, recorded a clip and called the hotline of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
After receiving the information, the Inspector of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism determined that this ship was not registered in Quang Ninh and called the group of tourists directly to explain. At the same time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Document 561/SVHTTDL-QLLT dated April 7, 2025 to transfer the information to Ha Long City for coordination in handling.
On the morning of April 7, the leaders of Ha Long City People's Committee directed the city's functional forces to collect information and coordinate to verify and clarify the guests' complaints.
Through discussions and working with the Quang Ninh Port Authority, Ha Long City determined that the TALIYA CRUISE ship registered its business in Hai Phong, picked up this group of tourists at Tuan Chau port and initially determined that the travel company advertised and sold products to tourists falsely. After Ha Long City intervened, the representative of the TALIYA CRUISE ship apologized to the group and refunded the money as requested by the group.
Currently, the authorities of Ha Long City are continuing to work and verify related information, including requesting the TALIYA CRUISE to provide contracts of all travel agencies related to passengers on board in general and the contents related to the above mentioned group of guests for handling according to regulations.
