- Towards green agriculture
- Urgently develop a plan for high-tech agricultural zone operations
- Accelerating the 2025 rural and agricultural census
After merging two administrative units, Hung Phu and Vinh Thanh (old), Vinh Thanh commune has proactively reviewed the new rural indicators and criteria. Up to now, this is the only commune in Ca Mau province that has met the model new rural standards. In recent years, the rural appearance of Vinh Thanh has changed significantly. 100% of inter-hamlet and inter-commune roads have been concreted, convenient for trade and travel. The school system and medical stations have been repaired and upgraded. Cultural and sports facilities operate effectively, well serving the needs of people to enjoy cultural and spiritual life.
Mr. Nguyen Van Guong, a resident of Tuong Thang B hamlet, Vinh Thanh commune, shared: "Now the lives of people in the commune have changed significantly, the economy is developing, people enjoy quality health care services; the roads are clean, and people are more aware of protecting the environment."
In production development, Vinh Thanh is considered one of the leading localities in applying mechanization to agriculture. Farmers in the commune have boldly invested in and joined forces to use modern machinery such as plows, tillers, combine harvesters and even drones to spray pesticides. Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc, Head of Tuong Thang B Hamlet, Vinh Thanh Commune, said: "Currently, in agricultural production, people here mainly apply smart equipment instead of using a lot of labor."
Drones are used by people in Vinh Thanh commune to spray pesticides.
Vinh Thanh currently has 2 models of mechanization in the stages of high-quality rice production, from land preparation, sowing, spraying, spreading fertilizer to harvesting, all performed by advanced machinery, helping agricultural production save costs, increase productivity, reduce prices and improve the quality of agricultural products, and protect the environment. In the commune, there are 15 aircraft spraying plant protection chemicals; 10 combine harvesters; 304 plows and tillers, from which farmers' agricultural production is completely mechanized. In addition, there are 6 companies, enterprises and 3 cooperatives that have signed contracts to purchase nearly 2,360 hectares of rice production, helping people feel secure in production and reducing market risks.
Vinh Thanh commune currently uses complete mechanization in agricultural production.
Production efficiency is clearly demonstrated through the average income per capita reaching over 76.4 million VND/year. Notably, Vinh Thanh commune was selected by the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Ca Mau province to pilot 50 hectares of low-emission rice production model under the "Sustainable development project of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030". This is a step to concretize the goal of agricultural development towards green, sustainable growth, suitable for current climate change conditions.
Mr. Ngo Nguyen Phong, Secretary of the Vinh Thanh Commune Party Committee, said: “To maintain the title of a model new rural commune, we are currently perfecting the Commune's Steering Committee for New Rural Development. After perfecting the apparatus, we will continue to promote the strengths of our locality, encourage people to apply high technology in agricultural production, and form value chains associated with key products, to contribute to reducing costs and emissions while still ensuring productivity and quality of agricultural products."
Vinh Thanh today not only strives to maintain the title of model new rural commune, but is also gradually affirming its key role as an advanced and modern production area, making an important contribution to the sustainable development of the locality in particular and Ca Mau province in general./.
