Phu Dong Commune: Fire prevention and fighting training for 150 people

Vice Chairman of Phu Dong Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Thuyet said: Since the beginning of the year, there have been a number of serious fires in the city causing great damage to people and property, mainly occurring in family homes, houses combined with production, business and service; production facilities, warehouses in residential areas; entertainment facilities; facilities in industrial parks, clusters, craft villages; high-rise buildings, etc.

In Phu Dong commune, there were 3 fires (2 in houses and factories, 1 in an office), no human casualties, property damage estimated at 60 million VND.

Therefore, Phu Dong Commune People's Committee organized a training course, equipping professional knowledge and skills in handling fire prevention and fighting and rescue situations for trainees who are officers in charge of fire prevention and fighting work in the commune; leaders of villages and residential groups; households with houses combined with production and business; business establishments with security and order conditions; workers and traders working at markets, supermarkets, and commercial centers in the commune.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Chief of Phu Dong Commune Police, informed that with the 4 on-site motto in fire prevention and fighting work including "On-site forces, on-site logistics, on-site means and on-site command" will help detect and prevent fires promptly and effectively right from the beginning, contributing to minimizing damage to people and property.

However, there are still some problems: Fire incidents from the time they occur to when they develop into large ones, with the risk of causing damage within only 5 minutes, but the fire alarm is slow to reach the 114 Center because people cannot put out the fire themselves before calling. Traffic in the commune currently has many small alleys and lanes, fire trucks cannot move, or due to traffic congestion during rush hour. Water sources for fire fighting are limited, many ponds and lakes do not have water intakes or are filled in to build projects; there are residential areas without fire hydrants; the on-site fire fighting force is not guaranteed due to lack of training, professional training, or the number of team members is too small, so they mainly rely on the support of professional fire police forces.

Therefore, organizing training courses and propagating fire prevention and fighting skills for facility leaders and grassroots fire prevention and fighting forces is a key and regular task.

The leaders of Phu Dong Commune People's Committee requested the trainees to strictly follow the class regulations and participate well in the practical work. Through the knowledge from the training class, in order to control the increase in the number of fires, prevent major fires from causing serious damage to people and property, contributing to ensuring political security and maintaining social order and safety in the area.

At the training session, trainees were informed by a reporter from the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department ( Hanoi City Police) about measures for fire prevention and fighting and rescue; trained, instructed, and practiced skills in using fire extinguishers, how to extinguish fires, etc.
