Economic Cooperation - A Bright Spot in Relations Between Vietnam and Korea
On August 12, in Seoul, the delegation of Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang met and worked with Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung Kwan; as part of the activities on the sidelines of General Secretary To Lam's State visit to Korea.
At the meeting, the two Ministers affirmed and expressed their joy that the relationship between Vietnam and Korea on the basis of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership upgraded in 2022 is increasingly developing well, comprehensively and substantively in all fields.
Speaking at the meeting, Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang said that Korean enterprises make important contributions to the process of economic transformation and growth model. In particular, the two sides still have a lot of room for cooperation in the economic field in general and investment in particular in the era of Vietnam's rise.

The Minister also shared that the Quad will focus on breakthrough policies on science and technology, international integration, reform of the legal system, and development of private enterprises, which will open up new space in Vietnam-Korea economic cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral levels.
At the same time, it is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for investment and business environment for Korean enterprises in particular and foreign direct investment enterprises (FDI) in general in Vietnam in the coming time.
New impetus for investment and technology cooperation
The Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum, which was recently held, was of an exceptionally large scale, focusing on areas in which Korea has strengths and Vietnam has a need for cooperation, such as digital transformation, clean energy, high technology, strategic industries, and value chains.
The event was attended by General Secretary To Lam and Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, more than 500 typical enterprises of the two countries and witnessed dozens of important cooperation documents. The forum was a highlight event during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Korea in the economic field, at the same time creating a real driving force to promote the investment, economic and technological cooperation between Vietnam and Korea to new heights.
Minister Nguyen Van Thang suggested that the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy continue to develop policies and support Korean enterprises to expand investment, transfer technology, develop human resources, and increase ODA support for Vietnam in future industrial fields such as semiconductor chips, strategic minerals, energy, high-speed railways, marine industry, etc.
In-depth discussion on State management in the fields of State management on policy development to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), management of economic zones, free trade zones, ODA in industry as well as management and support for the development of key State economic groups and private enterprises.
On the Korean side, the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung Kwan assessed that the State visit and the success of the talks between General Secretary To Lam and Korean President Lee Jae Myung will create a solid foundation in promoting Vietnam-Korea economic and investment relations.
Minister Kim Jung Kwan affirmed that the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy supports cooperation in supply chains, energy, high-speed railways and high technology, emphasizing that the two countries need to increase exchanges, cooperation and mutual support in bilateral and multilateral mechanisms, especially in the context of unpredictable developments in the global geo-economic and geo-political situation.
At the same time, we hope that the Ministry of Finance will continue to pay attention to and improve the investment and business environment in general and support Korean enterprises in particular.
