Vietnam won first place overall at the 2025 Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championship

On the evening of August 21, the 17th Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championship officially ended after 3 days of exciting and exciting competition. The tournament affirmed the position of Taekwondo in the region, with many excellent performances from athletes.

Vietnam excellently won the first place overall at the 2025 Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championship.

The Vietnamese sports delegation had a successful tournament and won the first place overall with a total of 125 medals, including 43 Gold Medals, 36 Silver Medals and 46 Bronze Medals. This impressive achievement had a great contribution from the Vietnam 1 team, with 32 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals and 9 Bronze Medals. Meanwhile, Vietnam 2 ranked second overall with 11 Gold Medals, 19 Silver Medals and 23 Bronze Medals.

The Philippines finished second overall with a total of 47 medals (11 Gold, 11 Silver and 25 Bronze). The Philippines Team 1 also finished third overall with 10 Gold, 11 Silver and 17 Bronze medals. Malaysia finished third overall with 18 medals, including 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 11 Bronze.

In terms of individual achievements, Vietnamese athletes showed their superiority in both the Fighting and Form events. In the Fighting event for the under-17 age group, female boxers Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (68kg), Tran Ngoc Doan Trang (68kg+), Nguyen Gia Nhu (52kg) and Vo Thi Hong Tham (59kg) all won Gold Medals. In the men's category, Le Phu My won the 45kg category for the under-17 age group. In the over-17 age group, Vo Minh Man won the Gold Medal in the men's 68kg category, while Tran Trong Dung won the individual men's boxing championship for the over-40 age group.

In the Martial Arts category, Vietnamese athletes also dominated. Nguyen Thi Le Kim won the Gold Medal in the under-40 women's individual martial arts category. The pair Chau Tuyet Van and Nguyen Thien Phung excellently won the Gold Medal in the under-40 mixed double martial arts category. The mixed martial arts team of over-17 years old of Vietnam 1 also won the Gold Medal, affirming the position of Vietnamese Taekwondo in the international arena.

The tournament is not only a playground for athletes to compete and improve their skills, but also an opportunity for Southeast Asian countries to strengthen solidarity and friendship. The tournament was a great success in the beautiful coastal city, leaving memorable memories for all participating delegations.
