“This is an unfortunate incident for Vietnamese volleyball, especially the U21 team. Up to this point, the International Volleyball Federation has not yet confirmed whether it was the fault of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation or the athlete.

From the Federation’s perspective, we hope that fans will continue to support the team, the athletes in particular and Vietnamese volleyball in general. Over the past time, the Federation, the teams and athletes have made many efforts and achieved breakthrough results.

These results were achieved not only from the efforts of the teams but also thanks to the support, encouragement and motivation of the fans. We will continue to try harder to respond to the love that fans have for Vietnamese volleyball,” Mr. Le Tri Truong shared.

According to information from VFV, the incident is related to the FIVB's decision regarding the case of an athlete who was deemed ineligible to participate in the 2025 Women's U21 Volleyball World Championship in Indonesia.

VFV affirms that it has fully complied with FIVB regulations on registration procedures and submission of athlete profiles before the tournament. This profile has been reviewed, approved and allowed to compete by FIVB.

However, on August 12, FIVB suddenly requested additional documents and applied some previously unspecified conditions to the athletes of the Vietnamese team. This decision led to FIVB declaring the athletes ineligible to compete.

VFV said it is making an official complaint according to FIVB procedures, and is coordinating with competent Vietnamese authorities to clarify and protect the rights of athletes as well as the reputation of Vietnamese volleyball.

On the afternoon of August 13, VFV sent an official document to FIVB about this incident.
