The Vietnamese women's team ended the group stage of the 2025 ASEAN Women's Cup with a 1-0 victory over Thailand, keeping the top spot in Group A and affirming their position as the number one team in Southeast Asia. The two teams Vietnam and Australia have never faced each other in the history of this tournament. In terms of current form, in the last 5 matches, the Vietnamese women's team has won all. In contrast, Australia has only won 3/5 matches, most recently losing to the Myanmar women's team in the group stage.

Coach Mai Duc Chung said: "U23 Australia has superior physique, speed, strength and powerful finishing ability. Vietnam will have to prepare very carefully to be able to defeat them."
The Vietnamese women’s team is almost fully equipped with the best players before the semi-final match, except for Duong Thi Van who is injured. Key players such as Kim Thanh, Chuong Thi Kieu, Hai Yen, Tuyet Dung, Thanh Nha, Bich Thuy, Huynh Nhu… are all in good form. New faces such as Tran Thi Duyen, Truc Huong… also have commendable performances.
If they defend tightly, have a plan to neutralize high balls and take advantage of opportunities, the Vietnamese women's team still has a lot of hope of overcoming U23 Australia.
In the other semi-final, the Myanmar women's team will compete with Thailand. The Myanmar team is considered the surprise of the 2025 ASEAN Women's Cup, when they are unbeaten in 3 matches, earning 7 points and topping Group B, despite being in the same group as the defending champion Philippines and U23 Australia. On the contrary, Thailand, despite reaching the semi-finals, did not perform well, easily winning against Indonesia and Cambodia but losing to Vietnam, finishing second in Group A.
