Strangers, regulars

Receiving the announcement that the Free Legal Advice Program by Dong Nai Newspaper and Dong Nai Radio and Television Station with the Provincial Bar Association had been restarted since July 16 and continued to be maintained regularly every week, many people and familiar readers of Dong Nai Newspaper (old) did not hesitate to call to inquire. This is a program that Dong Nai Newspaper (old) has connected with the Provincial Lawyers Association, Dong Nai Provincial Bar Association (old) and has effectively maintained over the years with a large number of people in need of free legal advice.

That is why, after a temporary suspension due to moving headquarters to carry out the merger of press agencies, the Editorial Board of Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio and Television has restarted this program to continue providing legal support to the people.

Mr. Le Quang Huynh (residing in Xuan Hoa commune) said that at 5am on July 16, he and his son set off by motorbike to arrive at 8am to meet a lawyer to explain the details related to the lawsuit to reclaim land and assets attached to the land when he signed a transfer contract with Mr. NM, who lives in the same locality. Accordingly, after buying the land, Mr. NM did not pay the full transfer amount according to the contract, and occupied the land and assets attached to the land for use for many years.

“If I don’t have a lawyer to guide me and show me a solution, I will still run around asking this person or that person to intervene, or the two sides will argue with each other until their mouths are tired, getting angry will still not help,” said Mr. Huynh.

Deputy Head of Dong Nai Provincial Bar Association LE QUANG Y said that to accompany Dong Nai Newspaper and PT, TH in the Free Legal Advice Program for Citizens, the Provincial Bar Association always selects good lawyers with professional experience, field experience and good coordination skills to provide free advice.

Because it was the first time coming to the Dong Nai Newspaper and Television Agency to ask for advice from a lawyer, Ms. NTH (residing in Tan An commune) was a bit shy. However, after being talked to and encouraged by the lawyer, Ms. H. became more open.

Ms. H. stated that since the day the couple had a conflict, her husband has been living here today, somewhere else tomorrow, only occasionally coming home to visit their children. After she requested a divorce, her husband did not agree and has been gone for nearly 2 years. Now that she wants a divorce, she is having trouble determining her husband's place of residence to file the petition. Therefore, she wants to see a lawyer for advice.

Open the way for the people

As someone who has been involved in free legal consulting activities at Dong Nai Newspaper (formerly), now Dong Nai Newspaper and PT, TH since 1997, lawyer - jurist Ngo Van Dinh (Provincial Lawyers Association) confided that most people come to the consulting program for their own or their family's needs. Therefore, he is always enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting. However, he is also always wary of those who take advantage of the volunteer nature of the program to provide legal consulting services with fees from clients, or take advantage of the information of lawyers and jurists of Dong Nai Newspaper and PT, TH to make complaints and lawsuits, causing difficulties for agencies and localities.

According to lawyer - lawyer Ngo Van Dinh, when consulting, lawyers and jurists always require and encourage people to bring complete records, documents, and evidence to prove that their request for consultation and presentation is legitimate and legal. If these requirements are lacking, lawyers and jurists will encourage them to supplement and only give directions based on existing documents, but cannot advise to satisfy their wishes, while there are no records and documents.

The work of propagating, disseminating, educating the law and providing free legal advice and assistance to the people, especially the vulnerable groups in society, such as the poor, the disabled, children, ethnic minorities, etc. has always been the focus of attention of all levels of government, organizations, and the political system, including Dong Nai Newspaper and PT, TH. Therefore, continuing to maintain the Free Legal Advice Program for Citizens has profound humanitarian significance and is highly appreciated by the people.
