According to the report of the General Statistics Office on June 6, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in the first 5 months of the year reached over 9.2 million. The top international tourist markets in Vietnam are China, South Korea, and Taiwan.

The 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism also include the US, Japan, Cambodia, India, Australia, and Malaysia. Notably, Russia is in the top 10 markets with 210,000 arrivals, making it the largest market sending tourists to Europe.

In May 2025 alone, the number of international arrivals reached a record high of over 1.5 million, the highest compared to May in the past 10 years.

Commenting on the impressive figures of Vietnamese tourism in early 2025, Mr. Bui Thanh Tu - marketing director of BestPrice - said that this is a positive and very encouraging signal, showing the strong recovery of Vietnamese tourism after the pandemic.

"May is not usually the peak season, so achieving more than 1.5 million international arrivals is a testament to the effectiveness of visa policies, destination communications, as well as efforts to improve the quality of tourism services and products.

In addition, this also reflects the more flexible travel trend of international visitors after COVID-19, no longer overly dependent on the peak season," Mr. Tu shared.

At BestPrice alone, in the first 5 months of the year, the company welcomed an increase of nearly 20% in the number of international visitors compared to the same period last year. The main markets are still Australia, the US, Japan, Germany and recently Poland and Switzerland, which are showing strong growth trends.

In addition, BestPrice also recorded a significant increase from Spanish-speaking markets such as Mexico, Chile, and Spain - thanks to the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns and tailor-made tours.

Besides the increase in quantity, revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first 5 months of 2025 is estimated to reach more than 340,000 billion VND.

Tourism revenue in the first 5 months of 2025 is estimated at 38,400 billion VND. Some localities with revenue in the first 5 months of 2025 increased sharply compared to the same period last year, including: Ho Chi Minh City (up 30.4%), followed by Dong Nai, Lao Cai, Hanoi and Da Nang.

According to the General Statistics Office, favorable visa policies, enhanced tourism promotion programs, and activities to celebrate major national holidays have attracted an increasing number of international visitors to Vietnam.

In 2025, Vietnam aims to welcome 22-23 million international visitors, an increase of 20% compared to 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. According to experts, this target is quite optimistic at present. However, Vietnam also needs to have solutions to increase tourist spending, instead of counting the number of visitors as it is now.
