On June 17, 2024, CMC University announced the establishment of the Faculty of Microelectronics and Telecommunications, specializing in semiconductor microcircuits, and is expected to welcome the first batch of students in 2024.
The Faculty of Microelectronics and Telecommunications trains in the field of Electronics and Telecommunications Technology with the following orientations: Semiconductor IC Design, Advanced Network and Communications Technology, Embedded Systems and IoT. In which, IC design is the main training orientation, aiming to create high-quality human resources and conduct research on microelectronics and semiconductors, enhancing Vietnam's competitiveness in the world supply chain.International standard lab system serving Microcircuit Design training at CMC University
The training program of the Faculty of Microelectronics and Telecommunications is designed to meet the standards of the American Computer Association (ACM), the Accreditation Council for Engineering and Technology (ABET). In particular, students will have access to design, simulation and testing tools from famous companies in the world such as Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens (Mentor Graphics), Xilinx, ... After graduation, students can immediately participate in the stages of research, design, manufacturing, or packaging of microchips in the semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam or in the global semiconductor supply chain. CMC University plans to cooperate with leading universities in the field of microchips and semiconductors in the US, Korea and Taiwan (China). These are three of the four leading countries and territories in global chip and semiconductor technology. In addition, the school will also cooperate with training institutions and businesses to provide short-term certificates (from 6 months to 2 years), as well as advanced training programs, second degrees, college, university, and postgraduate degrees in microchips and semiconductors. Previously, CMC University signed a cooperation agreement with Synopsys - one of the leading chip manufacturers in the US. This group will provide training programs according to global standards and train lecturers according to Synopsys's industry-standard design tools and processes. In addition, Synopsys will also connect CMC University to cooperate with major research institutes, universities, and enterprises in microchip design in the world.CMC University signed a memorandum of understanding with Synopsys Technology Corporation at the Opening Ceremony of the 2023-2024 school year
Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of CMC Technology Group, also met with the leadership of NVIDIA Corporation - one of the world's leading corporations in manufacturing semiconductor chips for AI technology, thereby strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperation of the two enterprises. CMC and NVIDIA are committed to building a long-term comprehensive strategic partnership to implement human resource training solutions, jointly building an AI community including: research, startups, AI human resource development to transform 1 million programmers capable of applying AI to create new values, contributing to making Vietnam an AI center of the region.CMC Corporation Chairman welcomed Mr. Keith Strier - Vice President of NVIDIA Corporation at CMC Creative Space, Ho Chi Minh City
According to experts, Vietnam is facing the opportunity to participate deeply in the semiconductor industry - a billion-dollar industry but in a "thirst" for global human resources. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for young human resources. Leaders of CMC Technology Group and CMC University also commented that this is a golden opportunity for Vietnamese human resources to learn technology, towards a country that is self-sufficient in chip production and packaging in the future. Immediately after the Government announced the "Project on human resource development for the semiconductor industry with the goal of training and developing 50,000 human resources for the industry by 2030", the Technology Group has planned to promote development in the field of IC Design. In particular, CMC University aims to train high-quality human resources to serve CMC Technology Group in particular and the semiconductor industry in Vietnam in general.CMC University has just appointed Dr. Dang Minh Tuan - Director of CMC Technology Application Institute (CMC ATI), as Head of the Faculty of Microelectronics and Telecommunications. He is known as the father of Vietkey keyboard - the product that won the First Prize of the "Vietnamese Intelligence" contest. With more than 19 years of working at the Military Technical Automation Institute, 15 projects and research topics at the State and Ministry levels successfully defended, Dr. Dang Minh Tuan is expected to bring his extensive knowledge and experience to develop the training program of the Faculty of Microelectronics and Telecommunications, especially in the field of semiconductor microcircuit design at CMC University. |
