Chasteberry is an easy-to-grow and easy-to-care-for plant. Although the initial investment is quite high, it yields a quick harvest. The first harvest can be harvested 35 days after sowing. The preparation is also simple, just cut the leaves and dry them in the field before selling them to traders.

Mr. Minh affirmed that the investment capital for growing this medicinal plant is quite high, not less than 100 million VND/ha, but the profit is higher than growing rice, cassava and higher than growing rubber trees.

One of the first households to grow the Chasteberry plant in the locality was the family of Mr. Do Hong An (residing in Go Cat hamlet). Mr. An said that in the past, his family specialized in growing rice, then switched to growing cassava, rubber, etc., but the income was not high. After that, his family decided to switch to growing Chasteberry plant until now.
Many years ago, the price of the Chasteberry variety was very high, from 3,000-3,500 VND/bulb, so his family started to grow many bulbs to sell and bring in a stable income. Currently, the price of the Chasteberry variety has reached a quite high level, from 5,000-6,000 VND/bulb.
Mr. An said that this plant is easy to grow. After clearing the land, cutting rows, adding a little phosphate fertilizer along the rows, placing the chasteberry tubers down, after more than a month there will be the first harvest.
Being a “non-soil-sensitive” plant, it can be grown in almost all of Tan Phong, but if planted on black soil, this plant will grow stronger. The harvesting method is also very simple, hire workers to cut the leaves, spread them out to dry right in the field, then traders from many places will come to buy, the chasteberry plant has never been “unsaleable”.
Mr. Dang The Phuong - Vice Chairman of Tan Phong Commune Farmers' Association said that people use loans from the job creation source to invest in production and livestock, including some households raising cows and growing trinh nu hoang cung effectively.
Highly appreciating the model of growing the herb Chasteberry in Tan Phong commune, the Farmers' Association of Tan Bien district said it will create favorable conditions for herbal growers in particular, and farming and livestock farmers in general, to access preferential capital sources when they have the need and are eligible to borrow according to bank regulations.
