Many meaningful activities of Nguyen Trai High School youth on the occasion of July 27.

From early morning, 35 members of the Youth Union gathered at Nguyen Trai High School. Although the gratitude activity is held twice a year, many students still eagerly awaited it. “I find this one of the most meaningful and memorable activities of the year,” said Bao Chau, a student of class 11/7.

On the departure bus, the students chatted animatedly and reminded each other to maintain order when they arrived at the first stop, Lien Chieu Ward Martyrs' Cemetery. This place gathers 790 martyrs' graves, most of them from the old Hoa Lien commune, many of which are unidentified. The students quickly lit incense together throughout the cemetery. The atmosphere was solemn and quiet, with only the sound of soft footsteps on the brick floor and the scent of incense wafting in the wind.

After burning incense, many students stood for a long time looking at the plaque honoring the heroic martyrs. The incense smoke, the air and the clear sunlight of early morning blended together, creating a feeling of both tranquility and pride. Leaving the martyrs cemetery, the car moved to visit the house of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Ngo Thi Lieu (formerly Hoa Lien commune, now Lien Chieu ward).

The bus stopped on the main road, the students quickly walked nearly 1km to Mother's house. They proactively arranged chairs and prepared offerings to offer incense. Another group, along with the school's Youth Union Secretary and teachers, sat and chatted with their mother.

Now 99 years old, Mother Ngo Thi Lieu is still lucid. While holding the hands of the students, Mother recounted the milestones in her life of revolutionary activities, about her husband and son who sacrificed their lives in the resistance war. Mother's story made everyone listen in silence, like a moment of respectful gratitude for Mother and the fallen heroes.

Leaving the mother's house when the sun was high, the group continued to move to the Da Nang Museum. Here, they quickly dispersed to the display areas, carefully reading the captions, looking at each object, discussing and not forgetting to take pictures. Normally, the museum is crowded, but on historical days like this, the space becomes even more sacred and lively.

With nearly 3,000 documents and artifacts, the museum becomes a bridge of memories, a place to awaken patriotism with the most authentic images. In particular, when visiting the thematic exhibition "Da Nang - Echoes of the past" with more than 200 antiques from the three regions of the North, Central and South on display, the students' faces all lit up with excitement, curiosity and pride. The small artifacts that contain hundreds and thousands of years of history of each land, seem to lead them back to the past, not just through the pages of a book.

On the return trip, the weather was hot, but on each young person's face there was still a radiant, lively expression. One day, today's young people truly walked on the paths of memories to understand more about the value of life, and to know that: gratitude is one of the most beautiful ways to grow up.

When asked about their feelings after the trip, many students expressed their excitement. “Today’s trip was really meaningful to me. I always like to participate in activities like this, because it helps me appreciate what I have more. I hope to participate in more occasions like this,” Nguyen Van Bao Huy, a student of class 10/4, happily said.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh Quyen, Secretary of the School Youth Union, shared: “I am touched and proud to see that you are not standing aside during the important days of the nation. Each action you take is not just a formality, it is the deep gratitude of the students for the sacrifices of the previous generation.”

Mr. Nguyen Duc Phuoc, Party Cell Secretary and Principal of the school, said: “We always affirm that educating students on the tradition of “remembering the source of water when drinking” is not only on the pages of books, but more importantly through actions and practical experiences. On this occasion, the school’s Party Cell will also organize an incense offering ceremony at the Monument of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu (Tam Ky), visit the Exhibition House, as a tribute to those who sacrificed for national independence and set an example for students to follow.”

Although it is just a small activity in a series of gratitude programs across the country and the whole city of Da Nang on the occasion of July 27, for teachers and students of Nguyen Trai High School, each sincere action and each trip like that has a great value, needs to be spread, preserved and continued for a long time.
