Talking to Tri Thuc - Znews on the morning of September 3, overseas Vietnamese midfielder Tran Thanh Trung still maintained a positive and cheerful attitude. He cherished the time he spent getting acquainted and adapting to the environment at U23 Vietnam.
"I feel very happy to be called up to the U23 Vietnam team. In the team, I met and got to know many new friends. I will try to play better to continue to be called up to the national team," said the player born in 2005.
At the press conference before the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers on the afternoon of September 2, coach Kim Sang Sik confirmed that midfielder Tran Thanh Trung was not on the official list of 23 players of U23 Vietnam participating in the tournament.
Mr. Kim highly appreciated Tran Thanh Trung and affirmed that the Ninh Binh FC player is still in the team's long-term plan. "He shows good basic skills, high fighting spirit, promising to be a quality addition to the U23 Vietnam team in the future," coach Kim Sang-sik shared.
During his training days at U23 Vietnam, Tran Thanh Trung impressed with his ability to move steadily, his fearless playing style, and his ability to circulate the ball well, often initiating sharp transitions and attacks.
Players who grew up in Bulgaria still need more time to adapt to the weather and football environment in Vietnam.
Group C match schedule of the 2026 AFC U23 qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ), U23 Vietnam will meet Bangladesh on September 3, Singapore on September 6 and Yemen on September 9.
