On the morning of July 25, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the Department of Culture and Sports , and the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association organized a ceremony to reward authors and groups of authors from Ho Chi Minh City press agencies who won the 19th National Press Award in 2024 and to reward and award funding to support good and excellent press works written about the City in the second quarter of 2025.

Attending the event were comrades: Pham Quy Trong, Deputy Head of Department of Locality 3, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association ; Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of the City Party Committee; Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Tan Phong, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association and comrades who are leaders, reporters, editors of Ho Chi Minh City press agencies and some central press agencies in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the ceremony, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee decided to award additional prizes to the works that won the National Press Award with a prize equal to 50% of the prize value, specifically: 50 million VND for the A prize; 25 million VND for the B prize; 17.5 million VND for the C prize and 7.5 million VND for the Encouragement prize.
For press works about Ho Chi Minh City in the second quarter of 2025, from nearly 200 submitted works, the Organizing Committee selected 70 typical works belonging to 6 groups of genres including: Reportage, investigation, interview, documentary, special page, special column; Forum, forum-like products; Political commentary (commentary, editorial, essay), memoir; Photo reportage; Multimedia press works; Press news - photos.

Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated the quality of the participating works. In particular, the multimedia journalism genre is showing a clear development trend and is receiving investment attention from many press agencies.
Regarding the orientation of propaganda content in the third quarter of 2025, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hoi noted that the press should focus on reflecting the socio -economic achievements of Ho Chi Minh City associated with major events such as the 80th anniversary of National Day, the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection; propagating the results of implementing the 2-level local government model, the work of removing obstacles to key projects and works, and disbursing public investment to contribute to achieving the growth target of 8.5% in 2025.
Comrade Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, affirmed that the City's leaders over many periods have paid great attention to press activities. The attention is expressed through many different methods, including meetings and exchanges with newspapers and directly with reporters. The quarterly reward for good and excellent writings is open, including press agencies in Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Government and provinces.
According to comrade Tang Huu Phong, currently, Ho Chi Minh City is launching many important press awards, including the Press Award on Prevention and Combat of Corruption, Waste, and Negativity - an area that requires strong participation from press agencies. In addition, the Press Award on Science and Technology associated with Resolution 57 also opens up opportunities for the press to accompany the country's development process, spreading the spirit of innovation and creativity.

Sharing at the program, comrade Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said that Ho Chi Minh City is the first locality in the country to periodically reward press works about its locality every quarter. This is the concern and encouragement of Ho Chi Minh City leaders for the team of journalists, in addition to creating favorable conditions for the press to work.
