Speaking at the first congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA) for the 2025-2030 term held on the afternoon of June 10, Mr. Vo Van Hoan - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - affirmed that businesses can only survive if they have green solutions and green products and "there is no other way".
"Green" is the criterion for products to enter the world
According to Mr. Hoan, the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association is an inevitable trend, the result of a careful preparation process to support the business community in green transformation.
Emphasizing that the most important issue is not revenue, profit or product quantity, according to the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, the quality of the product can enter the world market or not and "green" is one of the important criteria.
"Small green things have a future and will develop. But big things that are not green, big businesses that do not apply these green criteria, will have a difficult path and sometimes it will be difficult to go," he affirmed.
Mr. Hoan expects the association to play a pioneering role in policy advice, spreading green criteria and connecting resources so that "your stamp is a passport to the world".
According to Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Trade Promotion Agency ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), this is a pioneering social organization in the country to operate in the field of green transformation, demonstrating the commitment of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in accompanying businesses.
Mr. Phu hopes that this will be a partner to realize the Government's goals in spreading awareness as well as implementing goals and policies on green transformation for the economy.
Considering that Ho Chi Minh City plays a pioneering role, he expects that localities will also establish green business associations to encourage businesses to develop green.

Golden opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to reposition
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Dinh Hong Ky - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association - affirmed that HGBA is an action-connected network, where large enterprises lead small enterprises, and each member can start or accelerate the greening journey.
According to Mr. Ky, in the green transformation front, no one can stand aside because of the pressure from increasingly strict export markets and green standards are no longer a "priority", but a mandatory condition.
"Apart from challenges, this is also a golden opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to reposition, innovate technology, improve efficiency and rise up in the global supply chain," said Mr. Ky.
Mr. Ky said the association will be a reliable policy partner, reflecting the voice from practice, proposing appropriate financial mechanisms, promoting green credit, and reducing barriers for green transformation projects.
At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association will also connect businesses with international financial institutions and green investment funds to bring capital, technology and global experience to Vietnam.

At the seminar "Green transformation amid global fluctuations" held within the framework of the congress, Ms. Luu Thi Thanh Mau - permanent vice president of HGBA - affirmed that "greening" is no longer a trendy choice, but has become an inevitable path for businesses to survive and develop sustainably.
According to Ms. Mau, green transformation not only meets ESG standards but is also an opportunity to innovate business models, improve competitiveness and participate more deeply in the global value chain.
Meanwhile, Mr. Phan Minh Thong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuc Sinh Joint Stock Company - said that if businesses have a direction and invest in sustainable development, businesses can "go a little slow", but will create many opportunities for businesses in the long run.
Mr. Le Anh - director of sustainable development of Duy Tan Recycling - hopes that the spread of green activities will raise public awareness and encourage support for products made from green materials, especially from Vietnamese businesses.
