The Intergovernmental Ministerial Conference is a high-level forum bringing together government representatives and leaders from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), organized with the support of the UAE National Anti-Doping Agency and the host country's Ministry of Sports .
Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Le Thi Hoang Yen attended the Conference.
At the Conference, representatives of countries in the Asia and Oceania regions discussed challenges and opportunities, as well as affirmed their common commitment in the fight against doping, which is increasingly complex and requires close international cooperation.
The agenda of the Conference includes many key contents, demonstrating the common interest and responsibility of countries in anti-doping work. The Conference opens with an update on the implementation of the Tashkent Resolution 2024. This is followed by discussions focusing on calling for and coordinating financial contributions from member governments to WADA, as this is an important resource for WADA to maintain and expand its anti-doping monitoring, research,education and investigation activities globally.
The conference also took time to prepare for the election of WADA Executive Board members for Asia for the 2026-2028 term, ensuring that the voice and interests of the region are fully represented in WADA’s highest governing body. In addition, delegates analyzed current challenges in anti-doping, including the sophistication of new doping methods and barriers to enforcement, and sought solutions to improve the effectiveness of educational programs. This was also an opportunity to share new opportunities from technology and multilateral cooperation. Along with that, promoting ASEAN and WADA partnership and cooperation was also discussed at the Conference.

Vietnam shows an active role and strong commitment in the fight to protect the purity of sports.
Reporting at the Conference, Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen said: In 2024, Vietnam completed the development of a Circular on anti-doping in sports activities in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code as well as implementing cooperation activities with the China Anti-Doping Organization and other national anti-doping agencies to effectively implement anti-doping activities. In addition, doping tests were conducted according to recommendations (including blood and urine tests in and out of competition) as well as cooperating with international federations on doping testing at international championships held in Vietnam....
Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen also shared information about Vietnam hosting the ASEAN Sports Ministers Meeting and related meetings in October 2025. Accordingly, within the framework of the meeting, WADA and ASEAN will adopt a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation to enhance WADA's support for Southeast Asian sports.
Also at the Conference, giving opinions on the draft common stance of the Asian region, Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen chose the option of "reaffirming our collective commitment to fulfilling the essential role of each government in supporting and co-sponsoring WADA according to the UNESCO international anti-doping in sport".

The presence of Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen at this important event not only demonstrates Vietnam's active role in international sports forums but also emphasizes the Vietnamese Government's unwavering commitment to combating doping and contributing to building the foundation for fair and clean sports.
In the context of modern sports, the fight against doping is not only the responsibility of sports organizations but also requires strong participation from all levels of government. Vietnam's participation and contribution to the discussions at the 20th Intergovernmental Ministerial Conference for Asia/Oceania on Anti-Doping in Sports is a clear demonstration that Vietnam is always a responsible and proactive member of the international sports community.
With the ultimate goal of protecting the health and careers of athletes, while preserving the values of fairness and honesty in sports, Vietnam pledges to continue to work closely with WADA and countries in the region to build a clean sports environment where true talent is honored.
