Over the first 7 months of 2025, Can Tho City Power Company developed 17,758 new customers, bringing the total number of electricity customers in the city to more than 1.1 million. To meet the increasing demand for electricity, Can Tho City Power Company has directed 28 electricity management teams in localities to perform well in technical management and safe operation of the power system.
Can Tho City Power Company also focuses on investing in the construction of power projects and to date, many key projects have been put into use. Typically, the Cai Rang 110kV transformer station and connecting lines were put into operation at the end of April 2025, contributing to increasing the reliability of power supply to urban areas and industrial parks in the South of Can Tho, creating conditions to attract investment, develop industry, trade and local services. Along with that, the electricity industry also speeds up the progress of major repair projects and invests in the construction of the 110kV transmission grid and the 22kV grid... contributing to promptly meeting the power supply to serve the needs of socio -economic growth of the city.
Along with promoting investment in construction of power projects, Can Tho City Power Company coordinates with the Department of Industry and Trade of the city and localities to strengthen the implementation of Directive No. 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on enhancing electricity saving in the period of 2023-2025 and the following years. Accordingly, mobilize administrative units to effectively implement electricity saving work at the unit; mobilize public lighting units to synchronously implement solutions to reduce capacity, but still ensure reasonable lighting time at night, especially for street lighting systems, parks, squares... For restaurants, hotels, commercial service establishments, office complexes and apartment buildings, it is necessary to cut at least 50% of outdoor advertising lighting capacity from 8:00 p.m. every day; Mobilize industrial production customers to use the correct capacity and load chart registered with electricity units and apply measures to manage and use electricity economically and effectively...
According to Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Electricity Company, the company has always focused on and regularly implemented the propaganda of electricity saving. The company has organized many training courses, disseminated knowledge about safe and energy-saving electricity use for officials in associations, unions, teachers and students in schools in the city; combined with promoting communication about electricity saving on channels such as the website, customer care app EVNSPC of the Southern Power Corporation; distributed handbooks on safe, economical and efficient electricity use to customers. At the same time, organized conferences to exchange and inform about the city's electricity supply situation and mobilized businesses and production establishments with electricity consumption of over 1 million kWh/year to participate in the load adjustment program (DR), load shifting... Thereby helping to reduce the overload of the power grid, limit power outages, affecting the production and business activities of customers; Helps businesses save on electricity costs by reducing the need for electricity during peak hours.
With the efforts of Can Tho City Electricity Company to promote electricity saving, the result is that after 7 months of 2025, the whole city has saved 91 million kWh, reaching over 118% compared to the plan, equivalent to saving more than 2.4% of commercial electricity output. However, it is forecasted that from now until the end of 2025, the demand for electricity for production, business and consumption in the city will continue to increase.
To ensure stable power supply, Can Tho City Power Company accelerates investment and construction progress, completes power projects according to schedule; strengthens technical management, ensures safe and reliable operation of the power grid system. Along with that, many propaganda programs are implemented for people and businesses to practice saving electricity, in order to spread the message of saving electricity widely in the community... contributing to the socio-economic development and daily life of the city's people.
