Vi Hao's goal at the end of the match helped U23 Vietnam beat U23 Yemen 1-0 at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ). Coach Troussier's team has a good chance of winning the top spot in Group C and participating in the 2023 U23 Asian Cup.
Vietnam U23 entered the match with Yemen U23 in the second match of Group C of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers with extreme caution.
That's why coach Troussier's team didn't start well and the defense faced many problems. Luckily, goalkeeper Van Viet made 2 saves.
Throughout the match, U23 Vietnam kept the ball more but the opportunities were not really clear.
But coach Troussier's substitution was effective. In the 85th minute, Khuat Van Khang crossed the ball for Bui Vi Hao to head accurately, bringing a 1-0 victory for U23 Vietnam.
If they draw with Singapore in the final round on September 12, U23 Vietnam will win the top spot in the group and a ticket to the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals in Qatar.
