In that context, the online discussion with the theme “Green transformation of enterprises – From challenges to actions” organized by the Fund for Green Future in collaboration with Dan Tri newspaper is expected to suggest specific directions for the business community. The program is part of the series of thematic discussions Talk GreenBiz - Green growth compass initiated by the Fund for Green Future, aiming to raise awareness and action capacity of Vietnamese enterprises in the face of rapidly forming carbon pricing mechanisms.
The theme “Green Transformation of Enterprises – From Challenges to Action” will focus on topical and practical content, such as where businesses start in their journey to reduce emissions, what technologies and tools support effective greenhouse gas inventory, whether green finance and carbon credits are really feasible for small and medium-sized enterprises, etc.
The program's keynote speaker is Dr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Deputy Director of the Institute of Science, Technology, Energy and Environment (ISTEE), under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. With nearly 20 years of in-depth research in the fields of energy, economics and climate change, Dr. Nam is a familiar face at many international conferences and forums, and also takes on the role of senior lecturer at training programs on climate change and carbon markets. He is also one of the leading experts in the country, participating in consulting on the development of carbon market policies and regulations on greenhouse gas emission reduction in Vietnam since 2020.
Since 2008, Dr. Nam has made significant contributions to the development of policy frameworks on national energy planning and security, with a focus on finding a balance between economic growth and sustainable, accessible and low-carbon energy solutions. He has conducted in-depth research on the development of Vietnam’s electricity market, especially analyses of the liberalization process of the electricity market from a development economic perspective. These studies have provided practical recommendations for reforming and promoting a more competitive electricity market.
As one of the key researchers of the Energy Planning and Security Research Group of the Academy, Dr. Nam has co-authored about 35 peer-reviewed scientific articles since 2008. These contributions have made the research group one of the leading units in building long-term energy strategies and ensuring national energy security.
Currently, Dr. Nam’s research focuses on integrated energy planning models and energy-economy-climate nexus models, which play a key role in building a scientific basis for emission reduction strategies at both the enterprise and national levels. He has participated in many studies on developing low-carbon, cost-effective pathways for both energy supply and demand, contributing to supporting Vietnam in implementing greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets under its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) commitment. His recent publications focus on analyzing mitigation solutions in the energy and industrial sectors, and developing marginal emission reduction cost curves to estimate climate finance needs and the costs of implementing emission reduction targets.
According to Dr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, one of the biggest difficulties businesses are facing today is accessing directional information and appropriate tools to implement green transformation. Meanwhile, pressure from the international market is becoming increasingly evident, especially mechanisms such as CBAM (the EU's Cross-Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism) imposed on imported goods with high emissions (including cement, aluminum, steel, fertilizers, hydrogen and electricity). This leaves Vietnamese businesses in related fields with little time to prepare, facing the risk of losing orders or being eliminated from the global supply chain.

In the main presentation at the seminar, Dr. Nam will introduce carbon inventory and reporting technology platforms, initial investment costs, and suitability for small and medium-sized enterprises analyzed from a research and practical perspective. In particular, the seminar will devote time to the Q&A section to directly answer questions from businesses.
In addition to the professional sharing, the seminar also expanded the discussion on opportunities to access green finance, support from intermediary organizations such as banks, investment funds, and policy orientations from state management agencies in the coming time. Dr. Nam will share experiences from successful models in the region and internationally, thereby suggesting lessons that can be replicated in Vietnam.
With in-depth content, practical approach and highly qualified speakers, the seminar “Green Transformation of Enterprises – From Challenges to Action” promises to bring many useful values, becoming an important stepping stone to help Vietnamese enterprises be more proactive in their sustainable development strategies, gradually adapting to the rapidly shifting global context, moving towards a green and low-emission economy.
The discussion will take place at 9am on July 28, and will be broadcast live on Dan Tri newspaper, YouTube and Dan Tri newspaper Facebook. Readers and businesses who have questions for the speakers or want to share about the content mentioned in the discussion can send them to the organizers here.
The Green Future Fund, established by Vingroup on July 7, 2023, has the mission of contributing to the Government's goal of reducing net emissions to "0" by 2050. The Fund promotes green journeys in daily life, raises public awareness and calls on each individual to take action today to protect the environment for future generations.
The fund's large-scale community activities include the "Green Wednesday" campaign with a series of incentive programs from member companies and affiliates of Vingroup for millions of customers to encourage a green lifestyle, the "Acting Together for the Blue Ocean" campaign mobilizing about 10,000 Vingroup officials and volunteers to collect and clean up beaches and estuaries in response to World Oceans Day 2025, the "Green Summer" campaign 2025 with the participation of the Youth Union of 33 agencies, institutes and schools will implement nearly 30 projects in 14 provinces and cities across the country with about 81,000 beneficiaries, the "Green Voice" and "Sending the Green Future 2050" contests for students from primary to high school attracting nearly 23,000 contestants, spreading to hundreds of schools in dozens of provinces and cities across the country...
