On August 8, the ASEAN Committee in Greece (ACAT) organized ASEAN Day to mark the 58th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with the participation of Ambassadors, their spouses and all officials and staff of ASEAN embassies in Greece.
Also attending the event were representatives of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Ambassadors, representatives of ASEAN Dialogue Partners and friends in Greece.

Speaking at the ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador Dr. Bebeb AKN Djundjunan, currently the rotating Chair of ACAT, emphasized ASEAN's message of a more united, resilient, proactive, inclusive and sustainable ASEAN.
The Indonesian Ambassador reviewed the achievements that ASEAN has made in recent times, from building the ASEAN community to establishing close cooperative relations with many important countries and organizations in the world .
As the 5th largest economy in the world, ASEAN is increasingly becoming an important partner of countries, including the European Union (EU). Currently, the EU is ASEAN's 3rd largest trading partner and 2nd largest investor.
With the message of “building a united, inclusive and resilient ASEAN in a changing world”, ASEAN countries wish to further develop ASEAN-EU, ASEAN-Greece relations as well as between ACAT member countries and Greece.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Spyridon Voulgaris, Director of the Department of Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece congratulated the countries on ASEAN Day.
Ambassador Spyridon Voulgaris affirmed that Greece and ASEAN are trustworthy partners, sharing values, interests and common responsibilities in strengthening the international order based on rules, multilateralism and international law, especially in the context of current geopolitical and economic instability; wishing to work with ASEAN countries to promote the ASEAN vision in Greece; further strengthening ASEAN-Greece relations in areas of mutual benefit both bilaterally and within the ASEAN-EU cooperation framework, and being ready to be a bridge for ASEAN to further tighten its relations with the EU.

At the ceremony, delegates enjoyed Indonesian art performances and traditional cuisine of ASEAN countries, including Vietnam. The dishes with unique flavors contributed to spreading and promoting the image of Vietnam to politicians, local people and the ASEAN community in Greece.
