On July 25, 2025, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy signed Decision No. 2568/QD-BVHTTDL promulgating the Plan to organize the Documentary Exhibition to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with the theme "Autumn of Independence and Aspiration for Prosperity".
According to the Decision, the National Library of Vietnam presides over and coordinates with relevant agencies and units to organize the Documentary Exhibition to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with the theme "Autumn of Independence and Aspiration for Prosperity".
Expected from September 12-18, 2025 at the National Library of Vietnam, the Exhibition will display 800 documents and 80 photos, bringing to the public and readers authentic, vivid and rich perspectives on events, characters, as well as memorable moments in the country's important historical moments.
The exhibition is displayed in 4 parts, specifically as follows:
Part 1: August Revolution 1945 - The first great victory of the Vietnamese people in the 20th century (200 documents):
Displaying documents on the oppression and exploitation of the people of Indochina in general and Vietnam in particular by French colonialists and Japanese fascists; the miserable and extreme life, especially famine; the development of ideology in Vietnam from the 19th century to the August Revolution; the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam and its leadership of the Vietnamese Revolution; the role of President Ho Chi Minh in the Vietnamese Revolution; the developments of the General Uprising to seize power across all three regions of the country in 2 weeks (from August 16, 1945 to August 28, 1945); the success of the August Revolution.
Part 2: National Day September 2, 1945 - A heroic milestone of the Vietnamese people in the Ho Chi Minh era (200 documents):
Displaying documents on: the event on September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; printed copies of the Declaration of Independence; the contemporary significance of the Declaration of Independence drafted by President Ho Chi Minh; the early days of the establishment of the State; building the Central Government, People's Governments at all levels in localities, building the Constitution, general elections; restoring and initially building an independent and democratic economy ; stabilizing and developing education, culture, fighting famine, fighting illiteracy, abolishing taxes, uniting religions and beliefs, freedom of belief; the entire people building and protecting the people's government.
Part 3: Historical value and contemporary significance of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (200 documents):
Displaying documents summarizing and evaluating the August Revolution and National Day September 2: some theoretical issues of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought on national and colonial issues; the victory of the August Revolution
August opened the era of independence, freedom and socialism; the achievements of the August Revolution; the recognition and evaluation of the role of the August Revolution by colonial peoples and oppressed and exploited people all over the world; the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, our people taking control of their own destiny; the everlasting value of National Day.
Part 4: Vietnam - 80 years of steady progress (200 documents):
Displaying written documents about the great achievements that our Party and people have achieved in 80 years of building, defending and developing the country:
Achievements in building the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: victorious resistance war against France, culminating in the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954; victorious resistance war against the US, culminating in the Great Spring Victory in 1975, liberating the South, unifying the country; fulfilling international obligations and firmly protecting sovereignty over seas and islands;
The Constitutions of Vietnam in 1946, 1959, 1980, 1992, 2013; National Party Congresses; Party building, building and perfecting the socialist rule-of-law State; political system and great national unity bloc.
Achievements in innovation and international integration: economic growth, cultural development, human development, social progress and equity, protection of resources and environment; science, education, national security and defense; international integration; Vietnam's position in the international and regional arena...
The exhibition is a practical and specific activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam;
Through the content of the Exhibition, we aim to affirm the great significance and important role of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 in the historical process of the nation;
Propagating and educating all classes of people about the tradition of patriotism, self-reliance, and the desire for peace; the achievements of the cause of building, protecting and developing the country over the past 80 years and the desire for prosperity under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.
Encourage the entire Party, people and army to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of Delegates, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
