According to information from the Lao Cai Province Hydrometeorological Station, on the night of June 7 and early morning of June 8, there was moderate to heavy rain in the districts of Bac Ha, Van Ban, Bat Xat and Sa Pa town; while the accumulated rainfall of the previous days was generally from 10 to 20 mm, causing soil moisture in the areas of the above districts and towns to be nearly saturated (over 80%).

It is forecasted that on June 8, Van Ban, Bat Xat, Muong Khuong, Bao Yen, Bac Ha districts and Sa Pa town will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain in some places, with a high risk of flash floods in small streams and creeks; landslides on steep slopes, and land subsidence in mountainous areas.
The warning level for natural disaster risks due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence due to heavy rain and floods is level 1.


Flash floods and landslides can endanger people's lives; cause traffic jams, affect traffic safety; destroy civil infrastructure and agricultural production. Therefore, local authorities need to urgently inform people to proactively prevent, avoid and have rescue and support plans when natural disasters occur.
