Troi village, Thuong Trach commune currently has over 30 households, with more than 150 people who are Ma Coong people, belonging to the Bru-Van Kieu ethnic group. If in the past, people cultivated by the "cut-burn-prune" method, relying on nature to go to the fields to pick bamboo shoots, and find food sources from forest products, now many households have boldly invested in raising livestock and poultry, developing the household economy , and rising out of poverty.

Mr. Dinh Thut's family is a typical example. With the support of the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction and Socio-Economic Development in the Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Regions for breeding goats, he boldly bought more cows to raise and develop the family economy. The income from raising goats and cows has helped the family to raise their children to go to school, and their lives have been increasingly improved and raised.

Also in Troi village, thanks to his innovative thinking and perspective, Mr. Dinh Bu is always enthusiastic and proud to "show off" to the villagers that his son is participating in military training, and his daughter Y Nhon is currently studying and working in Japan.

Mr. Dinh Bu emotionally shared: “I have gone through difficult years due to lack of education, so I always keep in mind that I must sacrifice for my children and grandchildren, creating conditions for the next generation to study, grow up, and contribute to the community and society. Now seeing the village change, my children can go to school, I am very excited. I am grateful to the Party and State for caring for and supporting the people.”

The changes in Troi village, though step by step, though just starting with a few models and small families, are enough to demonstrate the changes in the thinking and working methods of the people.

In recent times, thanks to programs and projects on the national target of sustainable poverty reduction, socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; and the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, the appearance of villages in Thuong Trach commune has been increasingly changed, creating conditions for people to improve their lives.

Ban But is one of the villages that has invested quite fully in infrastructure. The village currently has a community house, where village meetings and cultural and artistic activities are regularly held; there is a school and currently, investment is being made to build solid stilt houses to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

The village has 59 households, of which more than 10 have escaped poverty. Children in the village attend school diligently, most of them persevere to finish all levels of education to find job opportunities. This school year, Y Ha is one of four children in the village who passed the high school graduation exam and chose to study at Quang Binh Medical College.

Y Ha confided: "I will try to study hard so that after graduating, I can return to the commune to take care of people's health and propagate to them to eliminate bad customs in medical treatment...".

According to Vice Chairman of Thuong Trach Commune People's Committee Nguyen Truong Chinh, in order to continue to create positive changes in improving the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities, building civilized and clean villages, the commune will focus on implementing socio-economic development projects suitable to local conditions, such as: Converting ineffective production land into cinnamon and medicinal plant growing models, developing many OCOP products, such as: dried bamboo shoots, medicinal herbs, mushrooms, honey, black sticky rice... and moving towards establishing cooperatives, building experiential tourism models. At the same time, taking advantage of support capital sources, especially preferential capital sources from the Social Policy Bank to encourage, motivate and help people to boldly borrow capital, increase production, develop livestock and poultry...

“Promoting internal resources and taking advantage of external resources, from 2024 to now, Thuong Trach commune has completed the construction and handed over 86 new houses to ethnic minority households in difficult circumstances in the area. The joy of the Party Committee, government and people of Thuong Trach has been multiplied.

Thuong Trach has set many goals to strive for step by step, and one of the fundamental solutions that the Party Committee and the commune government have identified is to change the awareness and thinking of the people, helping them to firmly pursue the goal of quickly escaping poverty," Mr. Nguyen Truong Chinh emphasized.
