Overview of the China (Guangdong) - ASEAN 2025 Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Exchange Conference.

On June 10, in Guangzhou City, the Guangdong Provincial Government and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) jointly held the China (Guangdong) - ASEAN Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Exchange Conference in 2025.

Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung, along with Consul General/representatives of Consulates General of ASEAN countries in Guangzhou, leaders of Chinese ministries, international organizations and nearly 800 Chinese and international delegates attended the Conference.

This conference is an important foreign affairs activity, implementing the strategic directions of General Secretary andPresident of China Xi Jinping on strengthening regional cooperation, implementing China's policy of high-quality opening up and promoting Guangdong's bridging role in the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Governor of Guangdong Province Wang Weizhong, Vice President of CCPIT Nie Wenhui and many other representatives attended the event to deliver policy directions.

Speaking at the conference, Governor Wang Weizhong said that China and ASEAN are closely linked by mountains and rivers, and have a long history of cultural and friendly exchanges. In recent years, with the orientation of the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, Guangdong province has been deepening economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN countries.

According to Governor Wang Weizhong, closer trade exchanges, deeper cross-border cooperation, and more sophisticated industrial cooperation will be new impetus for the continued development of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides. Since 2020, ASEAN has become Guangdong's largest trading partner. In 2024, Guangdong's trade volume with ASEAN will reach 1.5 trillion yuan, up 8%, accounting for one-fifth of the total trade volume between China and ASEAN.

At present, Guangdong is seriously implementing the decisions and instructions of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping of China and the Party Central Committee, adhering to the high-quality opening-up policy, promoting the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the new stage, and accelerating the creation of a market-oriented, legal and internationalized top-quality business environment.

Guangdong Province has become one of the most dynamic, competitive and market-oriented and internationalized regions in China and will certainly provide more market space, investment opportunities and cooperation opportunities for enterprises from ASEAN countries.

On this occasion, Governor Wang Weizhong also expressed his hope that the China (Guangdong)-ASEAN 2025 Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Building Exchange Conference will be a new starting point to further deepen the cooperation between Guangdong Province and ASEAN. It will also be an opportunity for the two sides to jointly build a closer cooperation mechanism to promote trade and supply chains, continuously improve the level of cross-border cooperation in industrial chains and supply chains, deeply promote the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment, strengthen practical cooperation in science and technology, education, agriculture, culture and tourism and other fields, and strive to make new and greater contributions to jointly building a China-ASEAN community of shared future.

CCPIT Vice President Nie Wenhui pledged that CCPIT will continue to be the unit promoting economic and trade exchanges between Guangdong province and ASEAN countries.

Vice President of CCPIT Nie Wenhui said that this event is a practical measure to thoroughly grasp the spirit of the important speech at the Central Periphery Work Conference and the important results of the visit to three Southeast Asian countries, Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia, in April 2025 by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

According to Nie Wenhui, Guangdong Province, which borders Hong Kong and Macau and is connected to the world, will be a “hot spot” for all types of investment and start-up businesses. Moreover, Guangdong Province and ASEAN, which are geographically and culturally close, will have great potential for market integration, good prospects for resource pooling, a solid foundation for economic and trade exchanges, and a large space for industrial cooperation.

The Vice President of CCPIT pledged to continue promoting economic and trade exchanges between Guangdong Province and ASEAN countries. At the same time, as a provider of commercial law services and a promoter of two-way tourism, we will work together to build a closer China-ASEAN community.

Within the framework of the conference, the Guangdong Provincial Committee for the Promotion of International Trade signed a memorandum of understanding with many large business organizations in the region, including the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). The agreement aims to promote business cooperation, supply chain linkages, trade and investment cooperation between Guangdong Province and ASEAN countries.

In particular, at the Conference, the launching ceremony of the online service platform “Guangdong Chain ASEAN” and the establishment of the Guangdong-ASEAN International Supply Chain Cooperation Alliance are expected to create a breakthrough in connecting businesses, optimizing logistics and supporting small and medium enterprises from ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, to access the Chinese market in a more convenient and transparent manner.

On the sidelines of the conference, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung and delegates visited the cross-border e-commerce product exhibition area between Guangdong province and ASEAN, learning about new trade models, logistics solutions and digital transformation platforms serving the export of agricultural products, food and consumer goods.
