According to the admission announcement, Truc Linh had a total score of 46.5, including: Math 9.5; Literature 8; English 10 and specialized subject (English) 9.5. With this score, Truc Linh is not only the valedictorian of the specialized subject English but also the valedictorian of the 10th specialized class in the 2025-2026 school year at Chu Van An High School for the Gifted.
Sharing with us about her love for English, Truc Linh said: Since primary school, my parents have created conditions for me to be exposed to English and I quickly became passionate about this subject. English is a global language, a useful tool for me to communicate and learn interesting knowledge from other cultures around the world .
She also shared that knowing about successful valedictorians in study and life through newspapers and media has given her strong motivation. Since then, she has carried within her a dream and determination to study hard to achieve the same results as her predecessors. She always tells herself that to affirm her own value in life requires seriousness, discipline and hard work in studying and practicing. Therefore, when achieving the expected results, Truc Linh felt very emotional and told herself that she would have to try harder in the future.
To achieve high scores in the recent 10th grade entrance exam, Truc Linh has created an effective and scientific study schedule. She spends time studying and reviewing all three subjects of Math, Literature and English every day. During the study process, Truc Linh proactively discovered her weaknesses in each subject and did not hesitate to research learning materials, share with friends and ask for help from teachers to find ways to improve.
In English, I emphasize the importance of building a solid vocabulary and grammar "store". To do this, I often write down vocabulary and grammar in a separate notebook, classified by topic. Each word is clearly labeled with pronunciation, synonyms, antonyms and accompanied by a sample sentence with a specific context to make it easier for me to understand and remember. Truc Linh limits "cramming" too much vocabulary in one study session, instead, I divide it into groups of new words to learn and review the words I have learned every day. Regarding grammar, I think that proactively doing many application exercises helps me grasp the structures more than just memorizing. This is a solid foundation to help me comprehensively develop all four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Besides, Truc Linh often studies in groups with her friends and chats in English to make learning more interesting and effective. Regular communication in English not only brings a sense of comfort and confidence but is also an effective method to help her improve her listening and speaking reflexes and improve her pronunciation. In particular, solving difficult exercises with her friends, correcting and discussing mistakes not only helps Truc Linh but also helps her friends remember knowledge much better.
When taking the test, Truc Linh always skims through the entire test structure to grasp the number of questions and allocate time appropriately for each section. She will prioritize doing easy questions or the types of questions she is confident in first to create a comfortable mindset. For more difficult questions or questions that require more thinking time, she will mark them and come back to them after completing the remaining sections.
Truc Linh emphasized that good health is an important factor that helps her study well. Therefore, she often wakes up early to walk with her mother to improve her health and relax her mind. Breathing fresh air helps her have a comfortable spirit for the new day and study more effectively. At school, she also actively participates in cultural, artistic and sports activities.
Teacher Pham Thuy Trang, English team training teacher at Vinh Trai Secondary School, commented on her student: During the training process at the school's English team, Truc Linh always focused, diligently reviewed knowledge, actively self-studied, and challenged herself with excellent student exams at all levels. In particular, Truc Linh always completed well the assigned essay writing exercises in English - an important skill and scored high in the exams.
In addition to her achievements as an excellent student for 9 consecutive years of study, Truc Linh has also won many awards in excellent student competitions at all levels since she was in grade 6, notably the second prize in the city-level excellent student competition for grade 9 in the 2024-2025 school year, the second prize in the provincial-level excellent student competition for grade 9 in the 2024-2025 school year...
Becoming the valedictorian of the English major and the valedictorian of a specialized school is a huge pressure for Truc Linh. However, I believe that with her inherent diligence, Truc Linh will turn the pressure into motivation to help her become more confident and continue to strive to improve her knowledge in the new learning environment. Truc Linh also expressed her desire to maintain her academic performance to achieve many high achievements, contributing to the overall achievements of Chu Van An High School for the Gifted. At the same time, she hopes to participate in many extracurricular activities, clubs, and excellent student teams to improve her knowledge as well as soft skills.
