Attending the Ben Rung bridge inauguration ceremony were National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and leaders of central ministries, branches and Hai Phong City, Quang Ninh Province.
Ben Rung Bridge across Da Bach River, connecting Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City with Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh Province, started construction in May 2022 and was completed and tested in May 2024.
Ben Rung Bridge is a special traffic project with a total investment of 1,941 billion VND, with a permanent structure and a length of 1,865m, including three main pillars across the river designed in the shape of the letter V (Victory) symbolizing three victories over foreign invaders on the Bach Dang River.
When put into use, the bridge will replace the Ben Rung ferry, helping people in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh travel conveniently, creating new momentum for regional connectivity and promoting the economy .
The bridge is 21.5m wide with 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for mixed vehicles, the main bridge design speed is 80km/h. The Hai Phong approach road will be completed in May 2024, connecting with National Highway 10 and Thuy Nguyen district.
However, the 2.2km Ben Rung bridge approach project with a total investment of about 360 billion VND, passing through Hiep Hoa and Song Khoai communes of Quang Yen town, invested by Quang Ninh province, is behind schedule due to unfavorable weather and weak ground treatment.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tung - Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee - emphasized that the Ben Rung bridge being put into use is an important result of the implementation of the cooperation minutes between the Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee.
This project will improve the transport capacity of both localities and promote the socio-economic development of the region, continuing to form an important growth pole of the North and the whole country together with Hanoi.
The project helps people in Thuy Nguyen district and Quang Yen town to travel quickly, without having to wait for the ferry for 30-60 minutes, or having to travel 40km to National Highway 18 and then turn around to National Highway 10 as before.
