10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City: There are 2 valedictorians, both with perfect scores in Math

TPO - The 2025 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City recorded two valedictorians with 28.75 points. Both students achieved perfect scores in Math.

After the Departmentof Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the 10th grade exam scores of more than 76,000 candidates, the portraits of the 2 top students in the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City were revealed.

They are Lu Tran Quynh Lan, a student at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City) and Nguyen Minh Thu, a student at Pham Van Chieu Secondary School (Go Vap District). Both students scored 28.75 points and achieved a perfect score in Math.

Specifically, Lu Tran Quynh Lan got 10 points in Math, 9.25 points in Literature, 9.5 points in English and 7 points in Math.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Minh Thu got perfect scores in Math and English, Literature: 8.75 points, specialized subject score was 4.25 points.

This year, the public 10th grade pass rate reached over 91%. The general admission score for 10th grade is calculated by the total score of three subjects: Math, Literature, English and priority points (if any). Candidates must take all three subjects, not violate the regulations and not have any subject with a score of 0.

According to statistics, the absolute score this year has decreased sharply. Only 524 10 points were recorded, of which 36 were in Math, 488 were in English, and the highest score in Literature was 9.5 points, achieved by only two candidates. Compared to 2024, the number of 10 points in English has decreased more than 3 times (last year there were 1,707 10 points).

This morning, the Department of Education and Training also announced the benchmark scores for specialized and integrated 10th grade. Candidates who pass the exam can enroll this afternoon until June 25. If not, they will be transferred to general 10th grade.

It is expected that on June 26, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will announce the standard scores for entering grade 10 for the general education system.

Last year, the top scorer in the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City was Nguyen Minh Anh, a student at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School (Tan Phu District) with a total score of 28.75 points in 3 subjects. Of which, Math and Foreign Language achieved perfect scores and Literature achieved 8.75 points.

The three runners-up were students from Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Saigon Practicing High School and Dong Khoi Secondary School, all scoring 28.5 points.
