Lao Bao town evacuated hundreds of people overnight due to rising flood waters

This morning, June 13, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, Le Ba Hung, said that due to heavy rain, flood water on the Se Pon river rose, inundating many residential areas, forcing the locality to mobilize hundreds of people to take shelter in safe places overnight.

Specifically, from about 2:00 a.m. on the same day, residential areas in Duy Tan, Cao Viet, and Vinh Dong hamlets were flooded by the Se Pon River. Immediately afterwards, the locality mobilized military forces, police, and Lao Bao International Border Gate Border Guard Station to support and guide people to evacuate.

Up to this point, 143 households/465 people have been evacuated to safety. Of these, 16 households were flooded over 1 meter deep. In addition to evacuating people, forces urgently went to areas with deeply flooded houses to support moving people's belongings and property to higher ground.

Currently, in Lao Bao town, there is still rain and the water level on the Se Pon River continues to rise. Local authorities are monitoring to be ready to evacuate people to safety.
