Understanding to love fully

Through video calls, Le Thi Lan and her children always feel the love of her husband and father who works far from home.

16 years ago, when she was a second-year student at Thanh Hoa Medical College, Ms. Lan accidentally met Mr. Thanh from a group of friends. Through meetings and conversations, they understood each other better and found empathy in their souls. Then, pure love gently came to them without them knowing. After many challenges, in 2013, realizing that their love had matured, with the consent of both families, they decided to get married in a warm wedding.

12 years of marriage is also the time Mr. Thanh worked away from home, sometimes in the Northern units, sometimes in the South and in 2021 he returned to work at Pu Nhi Border Guard Station. No matter which unit he worked in, he always completed the assigned tasks well. "Our ancestors' concept is that men are the pillars of the family, but for military families, perhaps the wife is the pillar. Due to the working conditions of a border guard, I do not have the opportunity to live near home, so all the family chores are "shouldered" by my wife, sometimes as a mother, sometimes as a father of the children and also the person who takes care of both sides of the family. I am happy because I have a wife who always shares, understands, and encourages me to complete my tasks well," Mr. Confided bar.

In the conversation with us, every time she mentioned her husband, Ms. Lan's eyes are always lit up with pride and full of love and sharing. She talked about the difficulties and hardships of a border soldier like her husband and many other soldiers, as simple as when parents and children are sick and have to go to the hospital; when there is something happy or sad at home, there is not always time to come home. Because, they are carrying out the extremely task of firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty and security of the national border, fighting against crime, and maintaining social order and safety in the border area.

"Ever since we fell in love and decided to be together, I have always tried to take care of everything in the family, such as taking care of my parents, raising my children to be good students, well-behaved, and many other unnamed tasks. Whatever I can do, I try to do; there are things that I have to rely on the care and help of both sets of grandparents in taking care of the children when my husband is away from home or when I have to stay at the hospital at night," Lan confided.

Understanding to love fully

Major Luu The Thanh's small family is filled with happy laughter every time he visits home.

It is the sharing and understanding between the couple that has helped Thanh and Lan's family to always be warm and happy. The words of encouragement and sharing, the frequent phone calls are also the connecting thread that helps his family love more. And as if to make up for his wife's disadvantages, every time he comes home on leave, Thanh does not hesitate to do any work. In the morning, he quietly wakes up early, covers his wife and children with blankets, and gently goes to the kitchen to cook breakfast so that his wife can rest and sleep a little more. In the afternoon, he took his wife and children to visit relatives, and took them to visit some historical sites. The soldier's love is "packaged" through such simple gestures and actions to fill Thanh's family with happiness.

Proud and appreciative of her husband's work, Ms. Lan, like many other wives of border soldiers, has overcome emotional deprivation and hardships in daily life to become a spiritual support and a great source of encouragement for her husband to work with peace of mind and protect the country's borders.
