Tight security ahead of US Democratic convention

Chicago is currently in the spotlight as the Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place in the city from August 19 to August 22 local time and will officially nominate Kamala Harris as the party's presidential candidate. President Joe Biden is expected to deliver a speech at the convention.

The convention is expected to draw about 50,000 people to the city, including delegates, activists and journalists, according to Fox News. Chicago authorities said they have made the necessary preparations and security is tight, with streets around the convention center closed.

According to a national poll compiled by analyst Nate Silver, Ms. K. Harris is leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump by 47.1%-44.6%. Ms. Harris has a 53.5% chance of winning the electoral college and a 65% chance of winning the national popular vote.
