Yen Bai City raises awareness of food safety

In order to improve the effectiveness of ensuring food security and safety (FSS), and at the same time, promote the role and responsibility of organizations, individuals and businesses in enforcing food safety laws. In recent times, Yen Bai city has focused on directing the strengthening of inspection, examination and supervision to ensure food security and safety; resolutely combating, preventing and strictly handling organizations, individuals, production and business establishments violating food safety regulations.

Ms. Dinh Thuy Hang - Owner of King Salmon Restaurant said that in the business process, from purchasing and using raw materials and food for processing, the restaurant always orders from reputable addresses with clear origin, strict sales contracts. In addition, the processing process always focuses on keeping food samples and fully implementing food safety regulations... Therefore, over the years, the restaurant has created prestige and trust with customers.

Fully aware of the role and importance of ensuring food safety in the food service business, as a chef directly preparing food for customers, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen, chef of King of Salmon Restaurant, always fully complies with food safety procedures during processing.

"Every year, I and the staff working here attend food safety training courses to serve customers well; have a full health certificate and during processing, we must use fresh food, the processing area is always clean and tidy, avoiding food poisoning" - Mr. Tuyen shared.

As the political and economic center of the province, production, business, street food, and collective kitchens are quite concentrated, requiring strict and systematic management and supervision of food safety. From that reality, every year, Yen Bai city strengthens the direction of specialized units, coordinates with departments, organizations of the city, Party committees, and authorities of communes and wards, establishes interdisciplinary teams to inspect food safety and hygiene, especially during holidays and festivals; integrates extensive propaganda among the people about ensuring food safety and hygiene.

Annually, organize training and health check-ups for employees, restaurant owners, food processing and business establishments, and assess and issue food safety and hygiene certificates for food service and food business establishments.

Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Thuy - Head of Food Safety of Yen Bai city said: "Responding to the month of action for food safety in 2025, with the theme of ensuring food safety, focusing on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food; Yen Bai city strengthens the dissemination andeducation of food safety knowledge to people in many forms such as: Through mass media, communication on digital platforms of communes and wards such as through zalo villages, residential groups, on the electronic information pages of communes and wards. Thereby, in order to promptly inform about safe and quality food supply chains, establishments violating and posing potential risks of food insecurity and safety. Improve the capacity to prevent and proactively handle food poisoning and food-borne diseases; minimize poisoning due to consumption of unsafe food in the community".

The city also directed the establishment of inter-sectoral inspection teams according to decentralization, organizing inspections, checks, and supervision of food security and safety work; combating, preventing, and strictly handling organizations, individuals, production and business establishments that violate food security and safety regulations. Promoting the role of authorities at all levels, management agencies, social organizations, and consumer supervision of compliance with food safety laws for individuals, establishments, businesses, and food processors that do not ensure food safety, and use food of unknown origin, thereby contributing to ensuring food safety and public health.
