Recently, at the Social Insurance (SI) base in Nam Can ( Ca Mau province), Ms. Pham Thi Hong received a decision to enjoy retirement benefits after 15 years of participating in social insurance. This is the first case in the area to enjoy retirement benefits from the new regulations of the Social Insurance Law in 2024.
Mr. To Thanh Hoai, Director of Nam Can Social Insurance, said that after 15 years of persistently participating in social insurance, including nearly 7 years of voluntary social insurance, Ms. Pham Thi Hong (Ban Quy hamlet, Phan Ngoc Hien commune, Ca Mau province) has officially received a monthly pension and a free health insurance card according to the regulations on retirement regime in the Social Insurance Law.

“The new regulation of the Social Insurance Law 2024 on reducing the minimum number of years of social insurance contributions to receive a pension from 20 years to 15 years has opened up opportunities for everyone, especially freelance workers, to receive a monthly pension. The case of Ms. Pham Thi Hong is a clear demonstration of the humanity and practicality of this superior policy,” Mr. To Thanh Hoai emphasized.
Ms. Pham Thi Hong shared: “I am really happy to officially receive the decision to receive monthly pension benefits today after many years of persistently participating in voluntary social insurance. This is a great source of encouragement for me to feel secure in my old age, to be financially independent and not dependent, reducing the burden on my children and grandchildren in difficult economic times like now."
According to Ms. Hong, in the coming time, she will continue to work with the locality to propagate and mobilize relatives, friends and local people to boldly participate in voluntary social insurance, so that they can later receive a monthly pension like her.
The fact that Ms. Hong is the first person in Phan Ngoc Hien commune to receive a pension after 15 years of participating in social insurance according to the provisions of the Social Insurance Law in 2024, not only has personal significance, but also creates a positive ripple effect, contributing to gradually bringing social insurance policies into the lives of freelance workers, thereby opening up opportunities for everyone to receive social security care when they retire.

According to the Facebook post "Le Ha": "This afternoon, my family ended July with boundless joy. My father, a farmer who spent his whole life covered in mud, now officially has a pension. I write these lines with overwhelming emotion, when I heard that my father has just officially received the decision to receive a pension. Just a small piece of paper, but it contains a whole youth of hardship and dreams that a farmer never dared to dream of."
"If your parents are also farmers, or do freelance work without participating in social insurance (SI) or health insurance (HI), you will probably understand my concern: Worrying about how one day, when I can no longer afford to provide monthly support, my parents will still have a steady income, so they can live happily and comfortably, without having to shy away from asking their children for money."

The voluntary social insurance policy is truly a support for freelance workers. Just pay 22% of your chosen income, with a minimum of 15 years, and you can receive a pension at a rate of 40%. Each additional year, the rate increases by 1%.
