Tay Ninh brings the sound of Don ca tai tu to the 2025 National Achievement Exhibition

At the 2025 National Achievements Exhibition held in Hanoi, the Tay Ninh province exhibition space not only introduced typical OCOP products but also brought to the capital's public the sweet melodies of Southern amateur music - an art form recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.

Tay Ninh recreates the space of Don ca tai tu

Don ca tai tu originated from Southern Vietnam, was formed and developed in the daily life of the people, closely associated with fields and villages.

Tay Ninh is one of the cradles of Southern amateur music with the presence of Artist - Musician Nguyen Quang Dai, who has trained many generations of talents, contributing to preserving and promoting the common heritage of the nation.

In the land of Can Duoc (old Long An ), more than a hundred years ago, Artist - Musician Nguyen Quang Dai (a musician of the Hue court) stopped, lived and taught music in the late 19th century. He and other artists and musicians edited, supplemented and completed 20 original pieces, composed 8 royal pieces and taught many generations of students. He was a person with great contributions in establishing and developing the unique Southern amateur music.

Tay Ninh is one of the localities that still preserves and strongly promotes this art form, with many clubs and artisans who have been associated for decades.

The delegation of the Provincial Cultural and Arts Center is practicing the performances.

Sharing before the exhibition, amateur singer Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan - Tay Ninh Province Culture and Arts Center said: “I feel extremely honored and proud to be present at this important event of the country. This time, Tay Ninh brings to visitors from all over the world the unique features of the Southern region - the art of Don ca tai tu, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. As a young amateur singer, I hope to bring to the audience and visitors sweet and profound melodies, so that they can understand and love the art of Don ca tai tu more. Thereby, contributing to preserving and promoting the unique value of this traditional art form, spreading it to a large audience of music lovers across the country”.

The special thing about this program is that, in addition to the live performance at the booth, the audience can also interact and learn about traditional musical instruments such as the zither, the zither, the co, etc. The selected performances are extremely familiar, recreating the atmosphere of the Southern garden right in the heart of the capital.

Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Province Cultural and Art Center Hang Thi Quy Tam said: “In addition to the familiar folk songs, we also incorporate the breath of Tay Ninh life, from the melody to the lyrics, so that the audience can feel the sincerity and hospitality of the people here. The troupe will perform ca ra bo, short excerpts of cai luong tuong co and especially interact directly with the audience.”

The exhibition “80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness” will take place from August 28 to September 5, at the Vietnam Exhibition Center, Dong Anh Commune, Hanoi.

With the combination of the typical OCOP flavor and the echoes of Don ca tai tu, the Tay Ninh exhibition space promises to become a special highlight at the 2025 National Achievements Exhibition, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of visitors./.
