Strengthening control of Mid-Autumn Festival market

The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, the market of goods in Khanh Hoa province has begun to be bustling. To contribute to ensuring the rights of consumers, the provincial Market Management Department (QLTT) has strengthened the supervision, inspection and control of the market to push back counterfeit goods, fake goods and unsafe food.

According to the records on the central streets of Nha Trang ward, the atmosphere of shopping for moon cakes has begun to bustle since the middle of the 7th lunar month. The stalls of major brands such as Kinh Do, Bibica, Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest are set up spaciously, eye-catchingly, attracting consumers. At grocery stores, markets, supermarkets, and shopping centers, moon cakes, candies, toys... with many types and designs are displayed to attract people to buy the products.

Ms. Trinh Thi Thu Ha - owner of Ha Phuong grocery store (Quang Trung street, Nha Trang ward) said: "The number of people buying moon cakes has started to increase gradually for the past 2 weeks. Customers are very concerned about the quality, origin, expiry date, and label of the product. Therefore, we import quality products from reputable brands to ensure food hygiene and safety for customers."

Along with cakes and candies, at this time, children's toy stores sell many types of eye-catching mid-autumn lanterns, attracting buyers. Ms. Phan Thi Binh - owner of Chu Phan toy store, Ngo Gia Tu street (Phan Rang ward), said: "To serve the Mid-Autumn Festival market this year, the store has prepared 5,000 lanterns with more than 50 designs. Every year, we are propagated by the Market Management force about business activities to ensure safety for children, so the store prioritizes domestically produced toys with clear origins."

Mr. Mai Hung Vi - Deputy Head of the Provincial Market Management Department said: To control the market stably and healthily during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Provincial Market Management Department has directed the Market Management teams to strengthen the management of the area, collect information, deploy professional measures, proactively coordinate with functional agencies and local authorities to organize market inspections and controls at locations where goods are regularly delivered, received, and exchanged; warehouses, goods gathering points; food production, processing, and trading establishments. In particular, it is important to focus on inspections and combine post-inspection of food safety for establishments producing and trading cakes, candies, and soft drinks, especially checking moon cakes produced by traditional methods and cakes and candies originating from foreign countries.

Regarding children's toys, the provincial Market Management Department requires market management teams to strengthen supervision, inspection, and handling of violations against organizations and individuals trading in toxic children's toys, toys that incite violence; toys with false images, drawings, and symbols that cause confusion about national sovereignty . At the same time, check the origin, source, invoices, documents, product labeling, conformity certificates, and other legal regulations in the management of children's toys.

During the inspection process, members of the Market Management Team combined direct propaganda to production and business establishments on legal regulations on goods trading and ensuring food safety to raise awareness of organizations and individuals, prevent acts of buying and selling counterfeit goods and goods that do not ensure quality, contributing to helping people celebrate a joyful and safe Mid-Autumn Festival.

According to the report, in the first 8 months of 2025, the provincial Market Management Department chaired and coordinated 306 inspections, thereby detecting and handling 108 violations. The total value of infringing goods was up to 15.8 billion VND, of which more than 1.25 billion VND was paid to the state budget. In particular, the Market Management force forced the destruction of 2,381 units of poor quality products, from handbags, clothes, motorbike spare parts to food and cosmetics with a total value of nearly 500 million VND. In addition, the force also confiscated 3,659 units of products including: Clothes, shoes, cosmetics, laptops, pearls... worth nearly 15 billion VND.
