The fluctuations of the global supply chain, along with the strong development of cross-border e-commerce, are opening up opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to exploit. With support from the Government and advantages in infrastructure and young human resources, Vietnam has favorable conditions to gradually increase its role in the international value chain.

The driving force for goods to reach far

By the end of 2024, the total value of e-commerce transactions in Southeast Asia will exceed 100 billion USD, of which Vietnam will achieve 25 billion USD in retail e-commerce revenue. Although the value of cross-border transactions is still modest, Vietnam still possesses strategic advantages to rise thanks to its favorable geographical location, constantly improving logistics infrastructure, abundant raw materials, young human resources and rapid digital transformation capabilities.

Along with cross-border e-commerce, Vietnam is promoting investment in building infrastructure to develop logistics services in a synchronous and modern direction.

Commenting that the world's fluctuations are opening up opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to proactively participate more deeply in the global supply chain, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (eComDX (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade ) said that a high-quality global supply chain is an important foundation to connect production and consumption, between the domestic market and the international market, helping Vietnam transform from a "manufacturing country" to a "highly competitive manufacturing country".

In particular, Vietnam has issued a series of preferential policies to develop supply chains, logistics and digital transformation towards improving the business investment environment, encouraging economic sectors to participate in developing logistics services; innovating planning, promoting investment in building infrastructure to develop Vietnam's logistics services in a synchronous and modern direction.

“The eComDX Center, together with major domestic and foreign partners, will continue to support Vietnamese businesses through training programs, capacity building and in-depth consulting. In addition, the center also connects with major e-commerce platforms in the world, closely coordinating with Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad to promote and boost exports. These activities not only help businesses take advantage of the modern e-commerce model, but also create momentum for Vietnamese goods to reach further, increasing their presence in the global supply chain,” said Mr. Tuan.

Leverage the logistics connectivity platform

The logistics connection platform is a model that is expected to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with integrated solutions in logistics, finance and technology, contributing to improving competitiveness in domestic and international markets. The platform creates a comprehensive digital process, from ordering to payment, integrating real-time order tracking features, helping to simplify document procedures and make the process transparent.

In addition, the logistics connection platform also connects directly to the bonded warehouse system, transportation network and financial services such as loans, disbursements and diverse payments. By improving cash flow and reducing dependence on paperwork, the connection platform also helps small and medium-sized enterprises operate more efficiently and confidently participate in global trade. In particular, promoting and complementing strengths in the logistics sector, developing technology platforms, banking solutions and international payment systems will build a comprehensive digital ecosystem for the business community.

According to Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, the logistics connection platform contributes to promoting digital transformation in the logistics sector, while supporting Vietnamese small and medium enterprises to reach out to the world. Through cooperation and leveraging the strengths of strategic partners, the logistics connection platform builds completely new technology, opening up an “all-in-one” ecosystem, helping businesses to be competitive in the international market.

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, said that the logistics connection platform helps small and medium-sized enterprises confidently join the global supply chain.

“As global supply chains become increasingly interconnected, the effectiveness of cross-border e-commerce depends largely on the ability of financial flows to be as seamless and rapid as the movement of goods between parties. Meanwhile, Vietnamese businesses are leading the Asia-Pacific region in the adoption of B2B card payments, clearly reflecting Vietnam’s readiness for digital transformation in business operations. The application of commercial payment solutions will help businesses streamline procurement processes, optimize cash flow and improve operational efficiency,” Dr. Yap Kwong Weng analyzed.

Aiming to support small and medium-sized enterprises to access the global supply chain through more efficient payment solutions, increasing access to capital and transparency throughout the supply chain, Ms. Dang Tuyet Dung, Visa Country Manager for Vietnam and Laos, said that integrating secure digital payment methods into the logistics connection platform will help businesses speed up the payment process and build strong trust with business partners. This will promote seamless trade, contributing to making Vietnam a dynamic economic center in the region and globally.
