Encourage exploration, respect creative freedom

Introducing the workshop, Editor-in-Chief of the Culture and Arts Magazine Hoang Ha emphasized that the "map" of culture and arts since the country was united continues the source of revolutionary tradition, closely follows reality and the breath of life, expresses the aspiration for truth, goodness, and beauty, and contributes to nurturing the soul, thoughts, feelings, and spirit of the Vietnamese people.
According to journalist Hoang Ha, during the period 1975-1985, literature and art deeply reflected the reality of peaceful life, building and defending the Fatherland; at the same time, there were also works reflecting personal nuances, concerns about the inadequacies and stagnation of the subsidized bureaucratic mechanism, and shining a light on the demands for change on the "eve of renovation". Overall, during this period, literature and art had a strong political and propaganda tendency with socialist realism as the creative method.
Since 1986, the renovation process has encouraged and created favorable conditions for artists to contribute and diversify their expressive styles. Literature and art reflect many aspects of life, including post-war issues, with new perspectives, delving into personal fate and tragedy, thereby promoting core values: Humanity, patriotism, tolerance, altruism...

Along with opening up and international integration, cultural exchange has been enhanced, many schools of literature and art have been absorbed, some researchers have mentioned the postmodern creative trend in literature, surpassing previous creative frameworks.
Many literary works have been translated abroad; many art programs have been introduced to international friends through cultural days and cultural weeks; some film works have won international awards... thereby, contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world .
This period also witnessed the emergence of many new forms of contemporary art such as: Installation art, performance art, multimedia art... contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the public, especially the youth. Cultural festivals ( music , cinema, poetry...) are also good conditions, stimulating the creativity of artists.
In particular, thanks to scientific and technological achievements, many literary and artistic works have been widely spread on the Internet, bringing new attitudes to creators and the public, which is proactive, two-way interaction; thereby, helping creators grasp the tastes and enjoyment needs of the public in order to create new works that attract the public. The development of the art market in recent years has made an important contribution to the development of the cultural industry.
“It can be said that artists have never had such favorable conditions to publish and popularize their creations as they do today. The Party and the State always pay special attention to culture in general and literature and arts in particular. This is demonstrated through policies and guidelines to support and encourage exploration and respect the creative freedom of artists,” said journalist Hoang Ha.
However, journalist Hoang Ha also pointed out that literature and art in recent times still have limitations, which is the lack of works of high ideological and artistic value, reflecting the true stature of the renovation cause, having the power to strongly influence the public. There are also works that are heavy on entertainment, easily following trivial tastes; some works reflect deadlock, darkness, and distance from real life. Traditional art has encountered many difficulties in maintaining its activities. Theoretical and critical work has also had certain achievements but not commensurate with expectations. Policies for literature and art still have problems and inadequacies...
This is also the content that experts, researchers, managers, artists from research institutes; cultural and artistic training schools; theaters, art units; specialized cultural and artistic associations at the central and local levels; media agencies analyze in detail in each field of literature, performing arts, cinema, dance, etc.
Leveraging technology to develop culture and arts
33 presentations and direct contributions at the conference looked back at the movement and development of literature and arts over the past 50 years, thereby proposing effective solutions to build and develop Vietnamese literature and arts to truly be an important element of advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, contributing to the sustainable development of the country's literature and arts in the new era.

Writer and critic Bui Viet Thang believes that it is necessary to strengthen and spread the concept of "Coming to modernity from tradition" as the right path of literary activities, including both research and creation.
Regarding literary theory and criticism, referring to the 2025 high school graduation exam in literature, researcher Tran Hinh said that this is a vivid example showing the closer relationship between teaching and learning in schools and theoretical and critical activities in society. The researcher also affirmed that literary theory and criticism work also needs to take advantage of advances in digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) technology to avoid duplication in research, criticism and translation; at the same time, it is necessary to increase international articles introducing domestic theory and criticism.
In the field of traditional arts, Meritorious Artist Loc Huyen (Vietnam Tuong Theatre) shared the efforts to "revive" and the positive signals of Tuong art in recent times. The success of unique performances and events organized by Vietnam Tuong Theatre in collaboration with units and individuals, attracting a large number of young audiences such as "Dau Thien Ha Noi", "Hon Tuong", "Tuong and Gen Z - When the Vietnamese soul speaks", "Lyrics - Voice of the youth", "Cham Tuong" ... is also an open direction for traditional arts such as Tuong, Cheo, Cai Luong ... to develop in the coming time.

Regarding the highly internationally integrated art form of circus, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, emphasized that in order for art to "live" and attract audiences, it is necessary to change thinking and innovate art. Sharing experiences from political circus art programs that sell tens of thousands of tickets each time they are launched, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang said that the Vietnam Circus Federation focuses on improving expertise and developing young artist resources, while creating new art products, applying modern technology combined with traditional quintessence.
Regarding human resource training, People's Artist Tran Ly Ly, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Dance Academy, said that in the context of globalization and the strong development of digital technology, innovation in education and training in dance in particular and other arts is an inevitable requirement for adaptation and development. According to People's Artist Tran Ly Ly, innovation needs to focus on building a team of lecturers and artists with a global mindset; developing arts education and training in an open, flexible and interdisciplinary direction; increasing the application of digital technology and AI in teaching and performing activities; linking domestic and international training...
