Reenactment of the scene of the king holding a tea party to entertain his courtiers at Di Nhien Duong House

For the first time, the public and visitors can immerse themselves in the royal palace space - where kings such as Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, Tu Duc often came to enjoy tea, write poetry and spend time with their mandarins in the Royal Garden. The reenactment took place at Di Nhien Duong - one of four structures in Thieu Phuong Vien built in 1828. With the unique "Van Tu Hoi Lang" architecture and relics associated with Nguyen Dynasty poetry, the garden was once the second scenic spot of the land of Than Kinh ranked by King Thieu Tri in 1844.

The tea party vividly recreates ancient royal court rituals: from the scene where the king invites his officials to drink tea, exchange poems, compose a seven-word eight-line poem right at the party, to the performance of elegant music pieces such as “Phu Luc Dich”, “Trinh Tuong Tap Khanh” and Hue folk songs “Ngu Huong Tra Ngat Hoang Cung”. These performances are all restored based on ancient documents and combined with captivating contemporary performances.

Enjoying Royal Tea at Di Nhien Duong is expected to be a unique cultural tourism product.

Di Nhien Duong space also displays many valuable artifacts such as Zen poetry calligraphy, mirror paintings "Binh Lanh Dang Cao", "Huong Giang Hieu Phiem", and bone-inlaid poems of King Thieu Tri, Tu Duc, Thanh Thai... bringing cultural depth and poetry to the tea experience.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Deputy Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, choosing Thieu Phuong Garden as the place to implement the tea service is the result of a serious research process on the history and culture of the Nguyen Dynasty. "We expect this to be a unique cultural tourism product, gradually perfected and upgraded to spread the value of Hue heritage in a lively and classy way," said Mr. Trung.

The program is just the initial introduction, opening up a new direction of potential exploitation for the Imperial Citadel heritage in the future.
