This year's tournament brings together 13 clubs with about 300 athletes from 9 provinces and cities: Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Tien Giang , Tay Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai and Dak Lak.
Each team brings its own nuances in technique and performance, contributing to the diverse picture of Lion Dance art across the country.
The competition contents include: Lion dance, Lion dance, Dragon dance, Mai Hoa Thung and Lion on Mai Hoa Thung. In which, Mai Hoa Thung competition continues to be the highlight with high requirements for dexterity, strength and precision on the high pole system.
The most notable point this year is the first participation of female athletes in the 2-meter high Mai Hoa Thung event.
This not only brings novelty to the tournament but also demonstrates the spirit of equality, affirming the role of women in folk sports that require a lot of technique and physical strength.
One of the special highlights of this year’s competition is the appearance of the Ly Dynasty Dragon in the ensemble performance. This is the first time a detail with a strong historical imprint has been included in the competition, both arousing national pride and honoring cultural heritage.
The image of a powerful, majestic dragon not only enriches the performance, but also carries a message of returning to the roots, connecting the present with a thousand-year tradition.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Trinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation emphasized: “The 1st National Lion Dance Club Championship - 2025 is not only a playground for teams to compete and compete, but also an opportunity to promote and preserve the art of Lion Dance, a long-standing cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people. We hope that through the tournament, this movement will spread more and more strongly, especially to the younger generation”.
During the 3 days from August 25 to 27, audiences in Buon Ma Thuot ward in general and Dak Lak province in particular will enjoy eye-catching performances that are both dramatic and artistic.
The 1st National Lion Dance Club Championship - 2025 is expected to become an important milestone, affirming the position of Lion Dance in modern life, not only as a performance sport, but also a cultural festival imbued with the spirit of solidarity and national pride.
This is also an opportunity to promote and introduce the image of Dak Lak land and people to people and tourists across the country.
