UAE-based defense group EDGE has completed field testing of MIRSAD-X, a multi-spectral surveillance and targeting system capable of seeing through visible and invisible light.
The system can detect, identify and locate targets in real time using an electro-optical imager. It also supports laser targeting for guided ammunition with a gyro-stabilized base for stable tracking.

MIRSAD-X is compatible with multiple land and sea platforms, enabling precise targeting for both land and sea units.
EDGE said a recent test conducted at the company's multi-domain test facility verified the system's tracking and positioning capabilities in harsh conditions.
“MIRSAD-X performs well and consistently delivers clear, stable images in harsh field conditions, including high temperatures, gusts of wind, dust and air turbulence,” said Felix Matis, Director of Electro-Optics at EDGE.
Testing will continue to maximize the system's capabilities in a variety of operating scenarios, he added.

MIRSAD-X's gyro stabilization technology comes from a 2-axis mount, giving it a 360-degree pan range and a tilt range of minus 20 degrees to plus 70 degrees.
The safety laser measures distance while the indicator locks onto the target for weapon guidance, allowing reliable tracking even in challenging environments.
The system combines a thermal camera to detect heat signatures from a distance with a day camera, ensuring day and night visibility.
Additionally, MIRSAD-X carries sensors that can see through fog, complementing its standard visible light imaging capabilities.
